Bonera appreciation thread
Bonera, what a great defender he is. Very solid, fast, always concentrated and always close to the action. Great positioning, good air skills, good ball control and - more important- he was a bargain. We paid him a bunch of millions from Parma. With him and Barzagli we have the new Nesta and Cannavaro of the next 10 years.
This time i applaude Galliani and i think many of his critics should do as well. Bonera, Kaką and Gourcuff have been paid the same amount of moneys of Suazo.

I like him. He can develop into a great CB in the next 2 years, could partner Nesta in his last 2 seasons or so, IMO he can be better than Kaladze but he still has a long way to go.
Not sure if he's fast, but he's solid and concentrated. I think he needs to work on his headers and jumping ability, then he got dump Kaladze to the bench. |

I think Bonera is great. Thanks for this thread. He is very solid in at CB. My only worry about him is at times he makes poor tackling decisions but other than that I think he can be great.

Kaladze has an important skill for a defender: he's kinda bullish, which makes him tough to be faced and a little intimidating.

But Kaladze is never trustworthy, he may catch a red card or have a few blunders. But when it's his day he's the best on the field.
on Bonera: I think he was never born to be used on the right flank as Carlo uses him lately, he's more of a CB... |

Our defence within few months will add another gem: Zambrotta.
I'm totally convinced Zambrotta can make a great CB as well, he has all the qualities to do that (just like Maldini did). You hear it here first.

Bonera is an excellent player but at this point I still wonder whether he'll fully achieve his potential. Should he do so we're looking at a rock in the heart of the defence, but right now I'm certain he's not ready.

I'd rather see Ambrosini being transformed into a CB... reason is, we could use his heading skills, his personality (probably will remain our Captain after Maldini), and also ball handling in the back... and free that midfield position for Gourcuff... Imagine: Oddo, Nesta (Bonera), Ambrosini (Kaladze), Zambrotta Gattuso, Pirlo, Gourcuff Kaka'

sant, I entertain the idea of moving Ambro to defender but with his ability to run and run and run, and given that defenders usually are not required as much stamina as midfielders, I wonder if ambro will be fully utilized ni a defender position...
