Lucio is way to old. I don't think he can solve our ageing defence. I'dd prefer Mexes anyday to be honest I think that he should be our main target this summer. Together with Aquilani. I'dd prefer a swoop for them more than a deal that would bring Ronaldinho en Zambro

Update. After a season of mediocrosy he was exposed against Holland. I think we dodged a bullet here.

Barzagli can go to Wolfsburg. He's an AWFUL defender. He's not mediocre. That's giving him too much. He plays like an amateur.

I have to admit I maybe over-rated him ... like a lot of people in Italy anyway lol.
I don't want to bash him for one match, but already in his previous international matches and especially the friendlies before Euro, I was surprised by the way he played (some mistakes of placement, some useless faults).

Is he just in a bad form for this Euro or is it his usual form ?

He can work well with the right partner and enviroment, but he isn't a great defender that can lift a defense on his own.

I'ts been identified that his best partner is Cannavaro... and Cannavaro did not play. Everytime I've seen him play not alongside Cannavaro he plays poorly... and his club form was sub-par at best (at times bad)...

Yes so actually his problem is that he's not a defense leader ... Cannavaro is a leader, Nesta can be a leader, they are able to say to their partners "do that", so from what we see and what you say, Barzagli needs a leader alongside him to help him.

Someone in the press mentioned after the Holland game that - if Palermo has averaged 3 goals conceded per game for the past two seasons then there has to be a problem in your defence. Im happy Barzagli and Zaccardo have gone to Wolfsburg, this way they will be forgotten about. They really were the two most over-rated Italian defenders I have seen in a long time (along with Legrottaglie).
