almilan is an unknown quantity at this point
he is no where near as good as don paolo but then who is?

but he would be one of the better options available to us

excellent post alan

who is near maldini? it's time we get used to the idea we'll never have such a player again and must do the best to have a player near his class or at least the best available

I'll wait to see further developments on this story before saying a lot.

Chivu is a very good player and could do very well at Milan though. As has been said, he isn't and will not become on par with San Paulo, but I can't think of anyone in football at the moment, except Nesta, that can reach that sort of level.

He would be a great addition to our side, surely Milan will leave him at Roma for next season to see how well he gets over his injury and by that time Maldini should have retired so Chivu could slot in very nicely. I cant really see Milan having Maldini, Nesta, Stam, Cafu, Chivu and Collocini and possibly Billy (Who may never retire) in the same squad at the same time. I doubt we will see him this summer.

Maldini will be replaced by Nesta and noone else. If we get Chivu as Nesta's replacement I am quite happy

I suppose its inevitable that a central defender will be bought in the next few years so i suppose these sort of links are going to get more and more common

Chivu is a good player and at the right team could be a great one, but as has been mentioned he does get injured a lot. Maldini is a big presence in the team and whoever comes in must be consistent and reliable, so a guy who might miss much of the season through injuries wouldnt exactly be ideal.

Ayala He is the same age as Stam and have already failed with us. Of course he could be a succes if he comes back, but why should we pay big bucks when we already have Stam? Makes no sense at all.

As for Chivu, yes his constant injuries is really a big concern considering his future.

Ayala played for Milan before moving to Valencia. He was not a success at Milan by any standards. I doubt very much neither him nor the club want to repeat that experience.

He is a good player, but is not right for Milan.

yes but the ayala now is much much muuuuuuuuch more different than the ayala we had a few years ago... in my opinion hes the 4rd best CB in the world after maldini and stam (puyol 4th and nesta 5th) ... back then he had little experience in italy, or in europe in general.. but u guys are right about his age, because this time by the time we need a CB to fill in he would be around 34 years old... a little bit toooo much i think.

*cough* Walter Samuel!!! *cough*

he's like 26-27 or so years old i believe.
excellent player, 3rd best stopper in the world imo (after Maldini and Nesta ofc ).
if possible, we should definately get him.

anyway, i agree with Henrik, he said what i repeatedly say: The only one who can get anywhere near replacing Maldini, is Nesta. But then we need someone who can replace Nesta, which wont be easy either...

Forza Milan Per Sempre!!!!!!!!!

Well we have Stam and Coloccini until we figure it out, which I guess is the best back-up plan the last 10 years
