Week 34: Crotone – Milan

Once again Milan failed to make up ground to teams above them by beating a lowly team. Week 33’s 1-2 home loss to Empoli was another frustrating chapter of games against teams that are near or in the relegation zone. In the case of Empoli the lowest scoring team in the league too. Before arriving at the San Siro Empoli had scored 8 goals in 16 away games this season.

Crotone is next and is another team fighting not to get relegated. Easy three points … in theory.

The week leading up to this game has been dominated by a growing controversy regarding the future of De Sciglio. The some times team captain is thought to have told the new management that he wants to leave. The player was booed vs Empoli and may be on his way out in the summer. For now however he is suspended for week 34 for accumulating yellows. Sosa is also suspended for the same reason.

Sosa’s suspension means that the midfield will once again look different. The latest is that Locatelli will get a start with Mati Fernandez and Kucka, but Pasalic is in contention as well. Up front the misfiring Bacca, another candidate for a summer exit, will be replaced by Lapadula, Suso and Deulofeu will start up front with him. Back in defense Romagnoli is set to miss another game therefore the Zapata, Paletta tandem will feature in middle of Vangioni and Calabria.

Donnarumma will of course start in goal. His new contract is the subject of many rumours as super (greedy) agent Mino Raiola is and will be demanding big money for the player and himself too, in the form of a percentage of any future transfers. Donnarumma will cost Milan a lot of money to keep but if that is normal for a player of his calibre can the same be said of his agent? Stay tuned for lots of activity in the summer.
