Venezia – Milan Serie A Week 34
Milan have played Inter a total of five times during the 2024-2025 season and finished unbeaten (3 wins, 2 ties) prompting one Inter fan to say that Milan would win the scudetto if they played Inter every week. The latest of the five matches was a 3-0 win in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals. Milan booked a ticket for the Coppa final against Bologna after disappointing yet again in a Serie A match. The 0-1 loss against Atalanta at the San Siro featured good moments but the incapability to finish and fight for a result was on show again. The much hyped three at the back looked average and made little difference overall.
Milan sit ninth in the league and talk has shifted to the possibility of getting to eighth and therefore avoiding the earlier rounds of next season’s Coppa Italia. Winning the Coppa on May 14th would provide another path to doing the same. Fiorentina, in the eighth spot, sit five points ahead of Milan.
Another talking point brought up in the media this week has been the possibility of Conceicao staying if the season ends positively. This seems unlikely as his fate has seemed sealed for weeks now, one which he claims is disrespectful to him.
This week 34 match is against a team fighting to avoid relegation, historically not a good omen for Milan. The 3-4-3 is expected to feature again with Tomori, Pavlovic and Thiaw in Gabbia’s place. Jimenez should retain his spot while continuing to earn some praise. Theo on the side needs to keep adding to his trademark runs. Fofana and Reijnders will start in the middle. The former and his erratic shooting come in contrast with the latter’s finishing. Of course the two are not the same kind of players and Reijnders’ season is getting him English attention and will make him the focus of random rumours.
Jovic scored a brace against Inter and has looked lively. He will start with Leao and Pulisic on the wings. The latter has noticeably cooled off with fatigue and perhaps the new formation the causes.
Venezia sit in 18th place, one point behind Lecce and safety.
