Emerson Royal has left Milan to head back to his birth country of Brazil. After his summer 2024 transfer to Milan was almost immediately considered a flop to the tune of €15 million paid to Tottenham the Brazilian was likely to be sold.

Milan, the perennial poor sellers, were expected to not a find a buyer for the right back. A Besiktas loan with option to buy emerged a few days ago and it was thought that Milan would need to prepare for a player’s inevitable return in the summer of 2026. However, Flamengo jumped in to hijack the Turkish club’s big and offered to pay for a full transfer. A reported fee of €9 million has been deemed enough and the player has signed with the Rubro-Negro.

It is at least concerning to see that Flamengo found room for Royal only after selling Wesley to Roma. Milan fans should be concerned that Roma can afford to pay a reported €25 million for a right back before are able to find one.

Milan’s will now search for a right back with the most rumoured name being Strasbourg’s Guela Doue. The brother of PSG’s Desire Doue.

Pervis Estupiñán joins Milan after Brighton found their new left back in Milan linked Maxim De Cuyper. The 27 years old becomes Milan’s first ever Ecuadorian player. He joins after Theo’s exits left a big hole in Milan’s line up.

He brings a more defensive profile to the left side and this should help as Milan’s left side was too often open and vulnerable in Theo’s latter time.

Estupiñán’s transfer is reportedly for €17 million plus €2 million in addons with the player earning a €2 million salary. He signs until 2030 and takes over the number 2 jersey.

As expected Luka Modric has signed a Milan contract after finishing his time at Real Madrid. The Croatian midfielder completed his medical and signing before departing for vacation following his last game for Real Madrid at the Club World Cup last week.

The 39 years old Croatian considered one of the best midfield maestros of his time spent 13 years in Madrid and arrives to be a leader for this Milan. A Milan fan he will have the task of working with a team once again in transition or better put a team in another year zero situation.

The one time ballon d’or winner has signed a one year contract – plus an option for one more – for a reported €4 million salary.

After rumours and expectations Theo Hernandez leaves Milan for the Saudi Arabian riches of Al Hilal. The French left back was a major part of the disappointing 2024-2025 season and many expected his exit. The drop off in his play was apparent on several occasions during the past season. The wait was reportedly due to his preference to stay in Europe. Some players would finally succumb to the riches on offer in the Saudi league and accept a move. This materialized for Theo.

Milan, known for not being the best sellers, managed to receive €25 million for Theo. A player one year away from being a Bosman free agent often, not always, sees his transfer value drop quickly and one can consider the €25 million a decent amount for a player that seemed inclined to leave anyway.

As reported his salary at Al Hilal is 22 million per year until 2028, with an option for a one year extension.

The rumoured and expected transfer of the 23 year old midfielder has now become official after the player passed his medical today. Samuele Ricci joins from Torino for a reported fee of €23 million plus €2 million in addons. He has signed on until June 30 2029 with an option for an extra year. Reports suggest his salary is €2.2 million.

The Pontedera, Tuscany born player has chosen the number 4 jersey.
