MILAN HAVE spent a remarkable €4.9 million on six signings so far according to figures in the media.
Low-cost is the name of the game for Milan this summer as despite selling Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain, Milan are certainly not overspending and just trying to make low-cost deals.
Milan sold the star duo to save money for the long-term, and not spend it all at one summer and in order to balance their books for a few more years, and up to now, they’ve spent very little money on new signings.
Report: Palermo interested in Milan’s Mesbah
De Sciglio didn’t expect Azzurri call-up
According to figures revealed today on La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have spent less than €5 million this summer; the exact figure is €4.9 million. Riccardo Montolivo and Bakaye Traoré (as well as Sulley Muntari who doesn’t count as a new signing) came on Bosman-basis transfers, meaning they cost Milan nothing.
Milan paid Cruzeiro €0.5 million for young goalkeeper Gabriel, while Francesco Acerbi arrived for €4 million on a co-ownership deal with Genoa. Kevin Constant arrived on a free loan and Cristian Zapata, the latest to have arrived, joins Milan on a €0.4m loan. Excluding the money that was spent on players who aren’t new signings (El Shaarawy’s 2nd half, Ibrahimovic’s installments), Milan have spent €4.9 million so far.
Milan have also sold players, for a reported €63.5 million, meaning they’ve made a profit of €58.6 million so far. These figures could change as Milan’s mercato isn’t over; more sales/signings are expected.
