I've heard ESPN+ is garbage. US commentary is awful too. I'll watch via online streams
https://www.sonyliv.com/listing/sport_football_all Sony was telecasting Serie A in my country last season and from what I know the streams were accessible to foreigners too. Even their premium is pretty damn cheap. If they do it this season too, I will let you guys know.
Does that mean that beIN Sports has lost the rights to Serie A or will ESPN just be a competitor? I pay for beIN because I get both La Liga and Serie A but I'm not going to pay for them both separately..

Depends what country you're in. beIN US will no longer carry Serie A
I'm living in Canada right now and did a little bit of research. According to what I've found so far, the Serie A rights are currently under negotiation so we don't know who will be broadcasting it just yet. I imagine that if ESPN got the rights in the US then TSN probably wants to get the rights over here. Hopefully they sort it out soon so I know which to purchase!

Okay so I did a free trial with ESPN+ and it's awesome. Just finished the weekly preview show and the presentation is top notch. Next week will feature an interview with Romagnoli. I can't wait
Oh and it should also be mentioned that ESPN hired Matteo Bonetti from beIN for commentary, which is a great move
