I even read from a Chinese website (which is notorious for being caught making up stuff by the way, so I can't guarantee the credibility of news) that some "experts" even advised Milan to release Pato from his contract to mitigate the loss. If that was true, it would be so sad and so wrong on so many levels.

We must invest in Milan Lab imo. We used to be the best in preventing injuries, but now we can't even keep Pato in a straight line. The second he arrives in Milano he gets injured after playing effortlessly for Brazil. You have one superstart player, it's worth considering special training programs or throrough analysis of his body to safeguard his health.
So I guess Kaká will come after all. "Closed doors" and "denials" are making this a sure thing. Everything set for Berlusconi to act as a saviour again. Devilcool

I wouldn't get my hopes up mate. Berlu knows he's not going to win back much of the faith of the faithful with just one replacement. He won't bother to do it if it doesn't make him look god-like. Sagrin

Most importantly though, we need to keep hold of all our key players right now. Can't have Robinho or Boateng deciding to leave this week. It would be a mess...

I don't think we'll see any sales this week. At most maybe Mexes, but I'm pretty sure he'll be here come 1st September. Robinho imo has generally been happy in Milan, barring obviously the outburst during Samp. Boateng has been given extra responsibility in a club where he's gone from a player who had one promising world cup to a potentially world class player.

Another big Fuck you Galliani! Big Grin

I'd say we need one key player to essentially look to gain some security to achieve our goals this season (top 3 finish in Serie A).

Our attack, while not the best around has 4 very good players. With Niang (who admittedly I don't know much about), it's 5 so we're pretty solid for numbers up front. If we can keep Pato fit then we have potentially a weapon that we seriously lacked last season who could help drive us forward into title challengers (big if mind). If not, I'm confident Pazzini can generally be a solid player for us this year with the support of El Shaarawy, Urby, Boateng and Robinho.

In midfield, we desperately need one player who'll sit in front of the defence and cover it. Montolivo just isn't that player, as he's not a holding midfielder and it's a waste of time to try and ask him to be a regista, as we'd only be going back to what we had with Pirlo, only worse and it doesn't fit Allegri's concept of our game. If we get one DM, say Diarra who's been linked, then that player can sit in front of our backline, giving us the freedom to push Montolivo up and allow him more freedom to move and direct the game, as well as press opponents higher up the pitch (as we saw in the Euros, he was excellent doing this). It completely changes the dynamic of our midfield and even the whole side, as all summer we saw we have lots of runners in midfield, but it lacks direction and purpose.

As for defence, we have numbers that we need and enough quality for this season. This side isn't expected to be a title contender this season, and in CL getting out of the group appears to be the biggest hope. Mexes, Yepes and Bonera are well experienced in Serie A and over the course of the year should provide us with enough quality to overcome the majority of Serie A opponents. Zapata and Acerbi are younger, but promising defenders. None of our defenders are good enough for title challengers or CL level, but they should be suitable for CL spots in Serie A. At RB we're actually pretty well covered between Abate and De Sciglio, while at LB we're crap, but Antonini should be ok at least to cover for this season.

Put simply, if we're aiming to make a push in CL and win Serie A, then we need a high quality CB who will lead the defence, a LB who at the very least is solid and reliable, a holding midfielder who will secure the area in front of our backline and a forward who can act as a figurehead up front and can be relied on to really take on a lot of responsibility. However, our goal is to get into CL next season, so we need a holding midfielder that will at least allow us to play the way we intend to and put us in a stronger position to get the CL spot ahead of teams like Napoli, Udinese and Roma.

At least we secured Niang finally, although it's still not official.

Seems that way. Welcome to him and wish him all the best.

Reading about this pissed me off. It's pretty obvious the Kaka deal never left us in any for of sound financial state. Why when we have 3 days left of the mercato is Galliani only realising this now?

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. If we can gain success and not be in a state of massive risk or relying on Berlu's family, then this is a worthwhile endeavour.

Niang's purchase doesn't necessarily affect Pato's time in Milan. The guy is 5 years younger and so by the time Pato will be approaching 30 (presuming he's even still here), Niang should only then be reaching his peak.

Personally, I would rather we have a lot of competition in the squad to push players further than not to have much competition.
Playing two strikers niang + pato and by then, moving robinho in to the AM position with noce on left en boateng on the right and De jong as CDM would very well be an option !

galliani has said they may be able to seal bojan deal today. negotiations are going on

Also, diakite from lazio i dont really follow the guy but he said he wants a move to a big club like milan

Looks like Bojan Krkic is almost our player. I hope we get him without a barcelona buy-back clause or something, he had this in his contract with Roma. I have to say I always liked him, though he never lived up to his potential so far.
