How important is he to our team?
i think since he got injured we lost that energy and youthful exuberance in midfield...
hence our dip in form.

I have been thinking about the same question too, but my thought was that since Pirlo was injured in Roma match, our midfield has become very unorganized and headless. In some games (Udinese?) when Robinho assumed Pirlo's role we did better. Otherwise, we have been all muscle and no brain, and that certainly wasn't enough.

The fact hat Pirlo is injured; means that we miss out on a lot of creativity in the midfield. Pirlo is a man that (in my opinion) is very intelligent when it comes to his insight during the games. He really connects defense to attack.
I do believe that Boateng is a source of energy in the midfield though.

Boateng for me is a sure starter, he offers our team so much! He proved it again vs Napoli. But I 'd prefer him in midfield not as trequartista.
Too bad he still isnt our player, I really hope we sign him for good in the summer.

I think I read somewhere that Boateng issue is already dealt, I think he`ll be ours form next season, i didn`t like the fact that Paloschi was involved in the deal somehow.

I think Preziozi confirmed he made a deal with Galliani about Boateng, so I think you're right.

Beppe, Boateng in midfield is nice but he doesn't always stay disciplined in this role positionally, hence Allegri's preference to play him higher.

and to think many had written him off before he even played 1 game as not Milan quality!

This. He's great as a trequartista, played there 3 times, did perfect and scored 3 goals.
