RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - donlocatelli - 06-27-2017

if donnarumma doesn't renew I squarely place the blame on galliani's shoulders. we have to question why 2 of our most promising youth products and lifelong milanista's (donna + des) are so reluctant to commit to us. obviously galliani signing a never ending circus of mickey mouse players and coaches and spending 3 seasons outside of europe totally devalued the brand to the point where milan is no longer considered a top club. the fact mirabelli is selling virtually every player galliani bought and signing a brand new starting 11 highlights my point further.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - honsano - 06-27-2017

I think losing DCS can be blamed on the crappy teams Galliani has made, but not Dolla. DCS has been through a bunch of terrible years at Milan. Though he has underperformed, so too has the rest of the team. Dolla on the other hand is just starting his career and has only been provided affection from the fans.

With all the positives from this market, I gotta say I'm a little disappointed at not hearing Suso getting a new deal yet. This should have wrapped up weeks ago. Now there are rumors he may leave!? If he does stay and we get Calhanoglu, the attack would slow down. I think those guys would be magic together and probably give Silva loads of opportunies to score.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - reza - 06-27-2017

Suso should stay. Some of this is media talk though, and may be his agent trying for money. Two years left on a 1 million contract, he should be patient and Fassone will offer him 2 or 2.5 easily.

But it is time for some departures in my opinion, De Sciglio, Poli, Paletta should have left by now. I would even go as far as saying it is very surprising we haven't had departures yet.

I respectfully disagree. While I am in total agreement that Uncle Fester facilitated the dark days of Milan with a series of wonderfully poor transfers and decisions, he is of course no longer here and more importantly, the buzz from the media has been nothing but positive about the new transfers. Young for the most part, talented with upside signings. People are actually talking about Milan being a force in a few years with this new ownership/management group. When is the last time we actually heard that? We have added a young but very promising talent in striker Silva, young and creative midfielder in Kessie, we are linked with Calhanoglu, and we have added two legit defenders, and hopefully we can complete the Conti signing. I haven't been this excited about a Milan transfer market in quite some time.

To your point, if Galliani was in charge our one signing would be Ibra..pay Raiola, praise him and the player, overpay both, and watch an aging striker miss about half the season being out of form or injured.

As for Donna, this is on him. The team is investing well, positive news surrounding the club save one story...Donna. We have Europa Cup football next season, we are in a position to compete for a UEFA Champions league with a squad bolstered by new talent. Donna not coming is on him, and frankly its gone on too long. If this isn't resolved very shortly, I would like to see Milan simply look for a new keeper and move on.

On man doesn't make a team, no matter how talented. Milan is on the way back, if he doesn't want to be a part of that then so be it. We will overcome, and when we are playing the likes of Bayern and United in the Champions League in a few years, we will be sure to send him a postcard wishing him the best.

Not that I would argue anything here, but just want to add a little thoughts on this whole thing. Why do people assume Dolla is a life long Milan fan? The kid is from Napoli and didn't even join our youth academy until a couple of years ago. Why would a kid like that be a Milan fan growing up? I know he and his family will always talk about how he is a Milan fan and all, but in all honesty, I smell a lot of BS with that. I mean, that's pure and unfiltered PR language right there. The kid is a mercenary, and I don't think he was ever a Milan fan. The team is his employer, and he treated them as such.

The other thing is, Dolla's renewal actually could not be done before. I think there are some regulations against signing a minor to a professional contract in Italy. Therefore, they had to wait until Dolla is at least 18 years old before they can offer him this big contract. Galliani is a moron, but this was not all of his doing.

This.  Okmilan

I agree with everything, and I believe you are 100% right with the last paragraph. There are certainly rules about offering long professional contracts...one of those rules is that the player has to be 18. This is why we had to wait until he turned 18, which was only a couple of months ago and in the middle of the takeover.

To add to your comments....as much as I put most of the blame on Donna....we all know tht if it was Galliani he would have offered Raiola a hefty comission on the renewal. I mean, if he gave him 7mil for Ely, immagine how much he would have given for Donna. All in all....the new management won't go that route, and i ABSOLUTELY agree with their approach. Because of this reason Raiola has looked for a way out and obviously found offers out there that interest Donnarumma a lot.

His older brother, Antonio, was owned by Milan when Gigio was 6-13 years old. Maybe that made him a Milan-fan? Also heard his father was/is a Milan-fan, so maybe those roots from the Napoli area doesn't mean that much? I don't know. Anyway, that discussion is probably not for the transfer window-thread.

I agree with you, frankly I don't know where the 'Milan fan' thing started, kissing badges and saying nice things about the team you are playing for are over rated sometimes.

On the last paragraph though, his contract spans both sides of non pro (under 18) and pro (over 18), I think that in itself is a mistake, especially since the first/original contract was offered knowing he is going to be a star.

Wasn't he an Inter project that choose Milan?
