I mean we can do that too but why go for a limited striker when we can get a striker that can do the same but so much more? Again, I understand your concerns about the price paid, I would've been extremely concerned if Kalinic was signed in our previous era because of how poor we were, but 25m for us would still be less than 10% of our summer spendings this year. That's not ideal, but it's not as awful as you claim. It's alright.

The price paid for Kalinic considering his age is what people his age are going for nowadays. Biglia went for 17+3m and he was on his last year of his contract. Bonucci came for 42m and he's 30. Kalinic was Fiorentina's most valuable player and got them the most points and we got him for 25m. In January he was close to going to China for 50m, Cannavaro wanted him at all costs and said he's the perfect and ideal player for his kind of football. 


And to the last part sentence quoted, the reason we have a sporting director is because he represents Milan's sporting needs. Every player we've agreed to sign was a player that was wanted by BOTH Montella and Mirabelli. This was something that wasn't there before the Dragon Era. The sporting director brings in a squad that he can work with regardless of who's the coach, because ultimately it's him who picks the coach. I firmly believe that there's no chance Mirabelli would've accepted Kalinic unless he was aboard too.
