RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - porcho - 05-08-2017

Kalinic is a big NO for me... 35 mill?! Surely we could get someone better for that price. Would still rather Belotti as our first choice, but wouldn't mind seeing Lacazette if we can't afford to spend 50+ on a striker.

Musacchio, while not the best player and far from the player that will fix our defence, is still a bargain at that price. As some have mentioned. We'd need to spend at least 35-40 to get anyone decent. He's a significantly better player then Paletta/Zapata.

AS for getting those bigger names. as ACMilan1983 has said. WE need to sell it as it is. These fringe players will become the core of team if they choose to leave. Morata as the example previously used. Would go from Bench player to star striker.

I still feel like we need Luis Gustavo for dm. Luis Gustavo - Kessie- Bona would be a well rounded midfield... Now if we could get Kovacic as well. That would be ever better but it's looking difficult currently so I'd be going for someone like Tielemans.

As I've said before. Would rather sign a bunch of youngsters this year and get them playing and working as a unit. Then work on huge names next season.
We've got a good young dm(Loca) but Luis Gustavo would be the quick fix and gives Loca time to develop rather then throwing him into the deep end to potentially become a scapegoat like many before him have.

I'd try a combo deal of Tielemans Teodorzcyk honestly. It will help Tielemans settle and Teo is ripping up the Belgian league scoring left right and center. But Tielemans is DEFINITELY a target. Dendoncker is also a big talent but i'd buy him and leave him at anderlecht one more season. They're undoubtly the biggest belgian talents.

"Milan competitive in four years"

http://www.football-italia.net/102278/%E2%80%98milan-competitive-four-years%E2%80%99

How will this go down with players like Donnarumma and especially with his agent, Raiola? Do they have the time to wait up to 4 years? What does it mean for the players we want to sign? Why would an experienced player who won't even be here when we're back at the top sign for us? Will younger players have the patience to come here and wait?

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - sylrus - 05-08-2017

Maybe if montella fail to go to ucl next season he will be sack. Hence the 4 years time.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Nalx - 05-08-2017

I think he meant competitive with the European top teams within four years.

To break it down the plan will be something like:
2017/2018 : go bananas in the mercato and get into top four in serie A
2018/2019 : crash out in the UCL first knockout stage but win the Coppa
2019/2020 : Calciopoli Pt.2 breaks out and, with Juve and Merda demoted, win the damn scudetto
2020/2021 : enjoy domestic superiority and manage to reach UCL semifinals, hence considered competitive with top teams

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 05-08-2017

Mathias you would keep Deulofeu and not Suso?

Anyway, I think last night highlighted where we're weak and how much work is needed to rebuild. I've not been under any illusion that it won't take years to rebuild fully, but I'm still confident in saying that this summer should be looking to add 3-4 absolute top players. That in the first instance will mean we take leaps forward towards improving on the immediate deficiencies of the team. It means we'll still lack depth and it won't even resolve all of the problematic areas of the first team, but it does mean that we should be in a much better position to reduce the chances of dropping points vs "minnows" next season and helping develop the character of the team.

From there, it's about incremental additions every mercato to first deal with immediate problems in the team and second improve the quality of the squad. Again, the same policy should always be applied, but less quantity and more quality. In addition to that, it's vital that players are looked at for the human qualities first and foremost, not just technical and athletic ability.

lol, I think Nalx pretty much said it. The title is slightly misleading, because his comments suggest we'll be competing for the likes of CL in 4 years, whereas obviously domestically we'd be competitive sooner than that. I also presume that as they "sell" the project to targets and renewals, they will be saying the same things, so I doubt this is any sort of shock to people we've been in negotiations with.

This is also good news for fans (and I think the comment is really for us), because it's a realistic and long term commitment. There aren't false expectations being set and he's not trying to delude anyone about the amount of work required to be a top side. We knew one mercato would never fix the problems, so it's positive he's not trying to pretend otherwise like Silvio and Galliani did in recent years.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Mathias - 05-08-2017

No I would keep Suso but I think we have to count on him wanting to leave. He's 99% going to premier league again in my opinion.

But yea, buying Benzema, Mussachio, Tielemans, James is a good start.

Anyone remember the days when we only had to worry about our LB position? Man... those were the days.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 05-08-2017

What makes you thinks he wants to leave? Rumours suggest he's happy to renew and the only doubt was caused when he didn't give a firm answer on a possible La Liga return of late.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - WCmilan - 05-08-2017

Tbh, Susos game is becoming a little bit predictable and stagnant. He's always looking to cut onto his left foot and whip in a cross. No doubt his talent is his crossing technique from those positions, but I've noticed teams know his game now (similar to El Sha) and they are closing him down quite effectively.

For the record, I would also prefer to keep Deulofeu and find a replacement winger on the right than keeping Suso and finding a LW. Deulofeu on left and Douglas costa on right would be much better.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 05-08-2017

I wouldn't keep Deulofeu over Suso. The more I watch him play, the more I understand why he wasn't a success at Barcelona or Everton. He is incapable of playing on the left wing as even when he does cut inside to his right, he fails to finish the move and combine/shoot properly. Deulofeu is the classical RW. Beat a man down the line and put in a cross. I don't mind if we use him that way, but with every passing day it seems like he just shouldn't be the penciled in winger here. On top of that, he would cost at least 20mil to keep at this point, and I'm not very sure if that's worth it anymore. If we can somehow work out another loan, or maybe a cut price with Barcelona where they retain some buyback option...than ok. But other than that, I am not convinced.

As for Suso, I agree that he is becoming predictable. It also doesn't help that this is Serie A. Everything in this league is about tactics, video session, defensive drilling and movements, etc. So of course it wasn't going to take long until teams figured out what they need to do in order to neutralize Suso. On top of that, he is probably our only genuine threat at this point (Deulofeu is threatening also, but as I said, finishing moves is a huge issue for him) so teams basically set up their tactics first and foremost to counter what Suso is going to do and make sure he is marked up.

This is where Montella needs to step in imo and change things up. Suso needs to be played behind the striker and be given the freedom to roam. If we keep him on the wing any longer, I am afraid that he will just start becoming a frustrating non-factor during matches.

About the rumors with Suso (there has been some new ones recently too with Atletico Madrid in particular), unless someone pays 35-40mil for him, than he should stay here. Screw that! All of these teams demand 30,40,50mil for teenagers that have had half of a good season, yet we can't make that with Suso? The hell with it. If Atletico wants him, they can pay at least 35mil....if not, he should stay here as I am sure he will return back to being a factor in games.

And just to clarify....NO, I don't want us to sell Suso. I think we should keep our best players and build on them..and Suso has been one of the best for us this year. I am just making the comment about possibly selling him in case he demands to be sold as there have been whispers of him being interested in return to La Liga.
