Friendlies aren't meaningless ,except maybe from wievers angle . They have exact purpose. Now ,replacing them with competitive games will force some NT coaches to play their strongest squads all the time ,which can mean more fatigue and more injuries.

The draw for first edition of this was today. A bit of complicated format but 4 leagues - each league divided in 4 groups, teams in same group play each other - based on country rankings with relegation/promotion between them. The link in the original post has some details. It starts September 2018.

They probably won't do all that great in this group, but they havesome good things going for them.
Kluivert and Bergwijn are growing in nicely and they have a solid CB partnership in van Dijk and De Vrij. Even their RB can be well covered by Karsdorp . Where they struggle is the midfield. But who knows, maybe this frankie De Jong kid will turn out a gem. In any case, maybe not right away, but I think in a couple of years they'll be back on top.
