I think there are some talented players there, but I kind of can't believe that Italy made it into the final. The football they played was really scrappy and ugly. Very little quality. For example, watch the Netherlands - Germany game, and you would think you are watching a senior national team game. Very controlled, a lot of quality in touches and movement, etc. Italy on the other hand look bad. As an example, Locatelli (who is supposed to be pulling the strings and touching the ball) barely got a comfortable touch on the ball in that whole first half. The midfield was completely bypassed and whenever it wasn't, they were put in some very difficult situations by their supporting cast. For our purposes, it's kind of hard to judge Locatelli there. The level of that game looked more like a U16 game rather than a u19 European championship game. By the way, I thought Nouri has been excellent for the Dutch. Great ability to impose himself on the game and great quality. I saw Ancelotti in the stands for one of the games.....I wonder if Milan has sent any scouts to this tournament? Actually, I think we all know the answer to that....

I watched Italy - Germany and will probably watch England - Italy, but I agree nefremo, this isn't a side where Locatelli will naturally shine. They play deep and look to break on the counter at pace. The midfield is almost completely bypassed in the offensive phase of play given the approach is usually to move wide, or in the instances it's played through the middle, it's vertical balls from CBs to the attackers.
I've been impressed by Filippo Romagna at the back for Italy, he could be one with a bright future. Unfortunately, he's already owned by Juve.

Currently Italy are losing the final 2-0 to France in the U19 Euros, but oddly it's probably been the best showcase I've seen of Locatelli in this tournament so far (mind I've only seen the Germany and England games). His movement, passing and tactical awareness is shining, it's just a shame the players around him have been poor frankly.

It's good to see us relatively high on the list, but it also shows there's still room for a LOT of growth. However, take these stats (as with all stats), with a pinch of salt. There are a lot of factors beyond this study that we need to factor in, particularly the value of our youth products to our side (in which regard we're doing really well in). Fundamentally, I'd like to see us use this as positive signs of growth, with potential for greater success. Principally, I'd like to see the club working towards being at the top of the list.

Just thought it was worth mentioning that a name to apparently keep an eye out for in the youth sector is 16 year old CB Moris Sportelli. He's been described as a new Nesta and while I've not seen him, Mauro Bianchessi (youth sector head scout) is apparently convinced he's going to be a big hit at the club.
The vultures are apparently already circling him, with Chelsea, Bournemouth and other linked, but it seems the club are keen to hold onto him.

What is the rule now in other countries in terms of signing youth players? What I mean is, can Chelsea for example sign someone as young as 16 from an Italian club? I know that these are only youth contract (until players turn 17 right? or is it 18?), but there has been instances of players leaving particularly for England.
