I read stuff like this and it leaves alarm bells ringing...
http://www.milannews.it/rassegna-stampa/...ini-250518 Montella has been excellent for the club this year, his results have been better than previous managers, he's shown great tactical acumen, his style of play is fitting with the club's history and hasn't hesitated in trusting young players with his game. He's brought back some level of consistency, but most important of all, more than absolutely anything else, he's worked on the mental strength of the team. We now work better than we have in previous years in believing in ourselves. We don't just drop leads like we have in the past, the group seems closer together than they have in years and if we fall behind, there's a belief that we can recover. For me, it's fundamental to keep Montella and let him build his side, right now changing coach would be a disaster. More than that, imo only an idiot would even consider replacing him with Mancini, who I think is one of the most overrated coaches on the planet who has had a lot of fortune in his coaching career thanks to circumstance rather than ability. I'm hoping this is just garbage as is often the case with Tuttosport. If not, then I have huge concerns about the Chinese owners understanding of the sport. I already have a few concerns about Fassone and Mirabelli, not that I think they're terrible or think the rumours of who they're interested in are poor choices, but they're time in Inter was hardly stellar and so far I've not seen anything to suggest that they're going to be great for the club, in fact based on their track record I worry they may not take all factors into consideration when scouting. We need investment, but if that investment is used to get people like Mancini in the club, then it'll be nothing but a waste.

^ i understand where you're coming from but don't think its all bad news. firstly, its just a rumour and given montella's strong performance this year and mancini's history with inter i doubt it'll happen. however, i can see the logic behind such a move if it materializes.
if we're serious about re-building and attracting top players than it would be far easier with a high profile coach like mancini than montella who's virtually unknown outside italy. like it or not, mancini's won trophies at every single club he's ever managed (home + abroad). he's also been involved in three club rebuilding projects (inter twice and man city) so is the ideal candidate for such a position. finally, its his high profile name which attracted the likes of kondogbia, miranda, perisic to inter over other clubs including ours. also, you may not like his style of play but he guarantees results. last year he finished 4th with an inter squad fielding 9 new players and still reached coppa italia semi-finals (losing to eventual winners juventus on penalties). like i said, i doubt it happens but wouldn't be dead against it if it did...

Sack Montela ASAP. There will be no real improvement as long as he's in charge. Not thrilled by Mancini ,but... Hell ,even he is better option than Montela.

Tell me 3 things he did wrong this season? IMO He did the best possible things with the players and staff given.

latest rumours say the first moves of the mercato will be to confirm mati + pasalic!?! meanwhile monaco are on the verge of signing tielemans. if there's any truth to this then i sincerely hope we hire mancini as he wouldn't tolerate fodders whereas montella would.

We all see what it looks like. 88% of game threads here are filled with people questioning and criticise his decisions about that matter. Also his "tactical" approach is bellow any acceptable level. With cowardly 1 attacker style even when we chase positive result against weaker opponents at our field. As result we have lot of wasted games ,like Udinese twice ,Atalanta ( 0-0 home draw ,first attacking substitution in 85 minute. Really? ) ,Sampdoria etc... Not to mention his "experiments" on Genoa away game which leaded to catastrophic 3-0 defeat. Coppa game against Jube...approach was "let's defend 1-2"... Maybe he thought there was another game on our field so he decided to keep minimal defeat with away goal ,who knows...Pescara game ,I'm ashamed even to mention... There is also squad dictatorship(Bacca ,Niang) and nepotism (Matigol ,let's bring guy I like from Viola ,we don't need even medical for him...Lapadula ,absolving him from any consequences for unprofessional behaviour). This is expected to be continued as soon as "Il Grande Capitano" returns (we saw before his injury)... We can freely forget about Locateli... Slow progress of our youngsters should not be forgoten ,too. Of corse ,there are also results bellow any acceptable level ,considering much better conditions he had this season comparing to previous few).

i like montella but he specifically agreed to the transfers of fodders like sosa + mati who are hindering loca's development
And who would you have signed with that money?...while don't forget that the summer was a mess with us having close to ZERO to spend and on top of that everything had to be agreed with the Chinese and Galliani. It was an absolute nightmare. It was either those 2 or nobody my friend. Both of them have given their contribution in recent times. It may have not been incredible, but you spend 7.5mil on a player from Turkey, this is the contribution you get. You spend 0 on Mati, this is the contribution you get. You can argue it one way or another, but boy am I glad that I get to see those 2 instead of Andrea fuking Poli. You make it seem as if he had a choice between Thiago Alcantara and Sosa, and he picked Sosa.
Also, neither one of those players is hindering Locatelli's development. The boy is developing just fine. He still get a shit ton of minutes in every game and is still a a very important player for this club. He is 18 and he needs to be handled the correct way, which is exactly what's going on now imo. He doesn't have to start every game and play for 90 minutes. He will have ups and downs and needs to be protected. This is exactly what Montella is doing while still playing him for a lot of minutes. We all know (including Locatelli and everyone in and around the club) that Locatelli is the future and not Sosa/Mati. Just because they are playing a bit more than him now doesn't change that fact nor does it hinder his development. I am not even going to respond to Sampinjon because he won't even consider other people's thoughts on Montella. That post is so far away from reality and filled with all kinds of hatred towards Montella (for all sorts of reasons...it's like he took anything that happened this season and pinned it on Montella's back so he can slay him).....that it's better to just agree to disagree and move on. |
