Make up your mind, dude. O

Were you suggesting that we should keep him and give him more time?

I have supported Maldini and Boban with every decision so far. But I can't with this. They are making a huge mistake.

How the hell is it that fans on foruns are being correct about Milan time and time again. Whether it's players, starting line ups, coaches, etc. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't it be where these directors/coaches that get paid millions are correct??

How is it that everyone can see from a mile away that this Pioli thing will fail. And it WILL. How can Maldini and Boban think that this will end well for us? I don't get it...

I think he will steady the ship initially. But it will turn out mediocre in the end, just like his career. I wouldn't be surprised if we are talking about replacing him come February again.

I think he's only here to see out the season. Then we'll hopefully sign a proper coach for next season.

Yep. pretty much.

If this goes through, it shows Boban and Maldini being in over their heads after a decent transfer campaign.

That is basically the case with the whole club. Giampaolo was out of his depth and was not given the kind of squad he needed, Maldini lacks experience in his role (and apparently got in a fan's face in Genoa, screaming at him), Gazidis destroyed Arsenal and is now doing the same to us, and Elliott are a bunch of Americans with no idea how to run a football club. Add to that an inexperienced squad with massive expectations placed on them, and you have a recipe for disaster. The only two people I trust in this mess are Boban (yes, really) and Massara.

Boban has been working at the highest level of the football world for a long time, and I have no doubt that he knows what he's doing. He even said at the end of the transfer campaign, in an unusually diplomatic way, that we were missing experienced players. He was right. He was the first one to start doubting Giampaolo, and he was right. He did agree with Maldini to hire him in the first place, but I also think he was expecting a different transfer campaign than what we ended up having. As for Massara, he's got enough experience that I trust he knows how to do his job.

But to be honest it doesn't matter, we're still completely fucked.
Saying that Boban expected a different transfer market makes little sense, as you allude he knows world football better than most so he knows FFP. Certainly more than Maldini who kept criticizing projects way before last year, my doubts about him as a manager go back a long way, see my old posts. Is Maradona a good coach? There is no reason to say Maldini can be a good manager, we must put our love of him created on the pitch behind us.
Unless we know how to manipulate things ala PSG the quality of the squad is expected but the problem is even this squad can and must do better. When season started there was no reason for top 6 (may be top 4) to be out of reach.
I agree. We aren't good enough to even have a shot at winning the CL. One can argue that we aren't even good enough to play in the CL. Okay fine. But we didn't even have one single shot on target against Udinese out of the whole world? We can't dominate Verona when they were one man down and one goal down? With all the players (I won't count, but I would guess that we should have least 10 NT players?) at his disposal, he has no excuse.

I feel a little sorry for him, as I always try to give him the benefit of doubt. Maybe he is a tactics genius, maybe he could repeat what Sacchi did at Milan in 80s and 90s, to bring a great squad to almighty glory, but that's not what we need right now. We need someone that can stabilize the sinking ship, work with a decent squad and bring Milan back to the main stage. Instead, he turned us into a true relegation side.

He is a nerd, a nerd that is obsessed with tactics and "system". There are a lot of people like that in academia, who are so self-centered in their own world, stubborn, refuse to succumb to the reality. But this is football world where too much money and too little patience is involved. He has to go.

I don't know much about the new guy Pioli. I recall that he won 9 games in a row for Inter Milan when he first started. Hopefully he would be able to stabilize it for us. We are not far from the top, and the season is still early enough. There is hope.
Anyone a little concerned that we revert to 433 which just increases reliance on Suso? The only direct replacement on the right is Samu.

I hope whoever the new coach is takes advantage of our new/old mids and tries, just tries, playing Leao up front with Piatek.
I came across this video on YouTube.

Main takeaways:

1. Giampaolo set the record of the shortest-lived coach in the entire Milan history with 111 days.
2. Milan was in fact willing to give Giampaolo time, but he made it impossible for administration to continue to bet on him. He is doing a poor job both internally and externally. The administration simply saw no hope. There was no light at the end of tunnel, so they had to cut their losses.
3. Boban wasn't part of decision making when Giampaolo was hired (I didn't realize that).
4. Gattuso left because he asked for experienced players (I don't think I knew that before).
5. Pioli should be good working with young players. There is hope.
