I might be in the minority here, but I actually think Giroud would be a really good signing. Our attack relies on a CF who can link up plays very well. Every time we play without Ibra this year, Leao and Rebic had trouble getting anything going as the CF because they don't have the ability to link up and make plays with their feet or physicality. Giroud is the perfect player for that job description. Him and Ibra would basically be a platoon at the CF. Icardi is certainly more talented, but he is more of a poacher and can't link up play as well which makes me think he wouldn't be a strong fit for our system.

May be true. May not be. One thing is for sure. With better performances and with consistent CL participation, in the next couple years....
Other clubs will want our players.
Their agents will want to move them (because that's how they make money).
We will need to make decisions on whether to cash in or offer better deals.

You can not hold players down with 2-3mil per year contracts when others are willing to double that. So you either gotta pay up or sell up. Otherwise issues will come up.

Berlusconi's Milan had one of the highest wage bills in the world. It was easy to hold the players here, because it wasn't easy for them to find another place to pay them so much AND pay big transfer fees.

We'll see what road we take. Having said that...I'm all for being financially responsible. Pay those that perform but be disciplined.
