There is no time to replace Kessie. He is very important to this team. At the moment, probably the most improtant player. He is the engine. He knows his role, sticks to it, and is very very consistent in all matches (vs relegation teams and in big derbies). It sucks, but we should just give him the renewal. We will not be sorry, because after some solid CL performances and a repeat in Serie A...Kessie will be worth 60/70+M to a PL club. I'm not saying we should sign a renewal just to sell him. But we will have a cushion and if this salary is too big for us, then we would be able to bank next summer.
It also gives us another year to work on Tonali while having the Benna-Kessie duo as first choices. I honestly think that Tonali is a better Kessie replacement, then a Bennacer replacement. Bennacer-Tonali is a balanced duo just like Bennacer-Kessie. Tonali just needs a bit more time. I am very confident he will turn a new and better leaf this season. He has all the tools. He is actually more dynamic then Kessie and offers more in the attacking half. No...in no way am I suggesting he's the better player right now. I'm just saying that there is a good, very very good platform for him to build on. And in a year, he may be ready to take over....which would mean that losing Kessie won't be such a big deal.

Tonali is tricky. He is not physically imposing to be Kessie but not as offensively aggressive as Bennacer.
My concern with Kessie is we drag this out and those CL performances price us out renewal. 7mil is a bit high for him. I’m not sure I can trust those numbers.

Im probably the only one who thinks this, but i think Zaccagni is our economic solution to number 10 position. He is 26, knows serie A well. His contract is expiring next year. Hes valued around 15m. We could get him for like 7 or 8m.
he played very well last night against sassuolo. got the penalty and scores it. created a golden chance for Kalinic to score, scores the second goal by himself. AC MILAN

Give Kessie what ever he wants, and sell him next summer for an insane amount.he is a goner too, has made up his mind already just cash on him

Wow the last rumors are we are trying to get Bernardo Silva for the CAM position! If I'm not wrong, he's more of a right side AM, but he would be a hell of a signing for us!

We are missing a RW and ACM. So the fact that B.Silva plays almost between those 2 roles would be "2 birds with 1 stone" type of thing.
BUT, I honestly can't believe for 1 second that we can afford him. It's nice to be entertained with these rumors  , but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. In any case, I think he's a great player. Better then what we have...but, in our current situation, if we indeed do have 50+M to invest, I can think of a few better ways to do it. Not gonna complain at all if this happens though as it directly fixes a problem area for us.
