But is Maldini against a sale cause it makes his job - because of silence, uncertainty or other - harder? Does a manager prefer a sale be done outside of windows and not close to his contract end? There is no evidence that Elliott are unhappy with Maldini and in my opinion RedBird SHOULD  keep Maldini but what is the expectation by going public. This is what I am saying/asking. He better know what he is doing cause on the surface at least he is damaging celebrations, check social media and half Milan talk is "doubts"

The timing is what it is, Maldini had no time to loose, negotiations of the ownership are in full progress, and I’m sure the mercato and the contracts of Maldini and Massara are a thing to talk about during the negotiations. Maldini knows he is almost indispensable so he can take this risk by telling them to invest or he walks.

Neymar is already 30 years old and his stats are nothing to boast about. I will definitely not be interested. I will rather get Noa Lang if we have to lose Leao.

According to Tuttosport Milan are very interested in Enzo Fernandez of River Plate and have placed a €15m offer. This came after Geoffrey Moncada carried out a scouting mission in Argentina, being a keen admirer of Fernandez.

The Rossoneri have the yes of the player but must reach an agreement with River Plate. It should be added that there is an €18m release clause in Fernandez’s contract, meaning the €15m offer isn’t far off.

Man Milan could be in an interesting and unique position. We still have major gaps in our team to be filled. We offer a progressive exciting game. The environment allows youngsters to grow and the Milan name SHOULD provide the financial heft to keep players who want to stay (not those that want drain the club). This mercato looks to be very interesting then if the RedBird take over and continuation of MMM goes as expected.

After seeing Maldini's interview, it's very hard to discuss rumors of "Milan about to close for player X" or "Milan is interested in player Y and made an offer of €". As Porcho said, sounds like "shit journalism". Gazetta themselves posted Maldini's interview where he says "he doesn't know the road forward in terms of what we can invest, the project beyond these 3 years, etc"...yet that same day they said we met and are about to close for Noa Lang. Now all these other rumors coming out for Fernandez, etc. Who knows what's happening!?

Anyway, I'm sure Maldini and Massara have continued doing their job and continued contacts with olayers we are interested in. I just don't know how they can negotiate at all if they don't know their allocated budget....therefore we can't possibly be "very close to signing" anyone. I buy the fact that we have agreed personal terms as that's possible....but to me it doesn't look like negotiations with clubs have entered any kind of official phase. They can't possibly, right?

In any case....I am hoping that Reddbird/Elliot keep the current group together and allow at least €100M to be spent this summer. If so, I believe Maldini and Massara will build a team capable of competing in the CL.

It’s a delicate balance. Obviously redbird can’t rehire MMM without owning the club and Eliot don’t want to do that as they are transferring power. However Maldini and co need to address needs early on. Transfer targets disappear the longer we wait and are more difficult to integrate into the team. Renewals also become problematic and we could end up with Kessie like situations.

I think everyone is especially sensitive to uncertainties due to the last 12+yes. The reality is that we won the Scudetto, our team is young and we are under transfer talks with ambitious new owners to make us a global entity again. Life is good.

I’m fairly confident MMM will continue and we will get some young players on board and grow them like we have all the others. With more success, giving space to youngsters becomes a bit more difficult, but CL is the goal now.

It's crazy we have to worry about renewals full 2 years before they expire. But I guess such is the world of football these days.

Anyway, this €150M release clause in Leao's contract has put me at ease tbh. It's not a disaster if he doesn't renew this year. He also has to know that trying to run-out your contract for 2 years is a risky move. You may think you can reject 5M from Milan now in order to get 10M in 2 years...but things change. Injuries happen, form varies and clubs' priorities change. Real may want you now, but may not in 2 years. And that clause also gives us further leverage in any kind of sale negotiations (if they ever happen).

Yes, next season we have to sell at a "cut price" if he doesn't sign an extension until than....but it also means he plays at this "low" wage for another year and we get to keep our player. In that "extra" year, we may win another title or two. And if again we don't sell, than it sucks to lose him for free in 2 years, but again, it means he keeps playing at the "low" wage and we keep building and hopefully winning. Also, gives us a lot more time to set ourselves up for when he leaves and get a replacement.

I know, I know....I'm spinning this into a positive. But I think looked at from this perspective, it can be and there is no need to go to extremes this summer in order to renew his deal. We should stay reasonable imo.

We talked so much about Donnarumma in the past. And look how that turned out. Also, people were livid that we didn't sell for tons of money before his contract run out.....but when? When and from who was that tons of money coming from? The only bid we (allegedly) got was from PSG for 16M + Areola.
That's just my way of giving an example for Leao. All this tslk about PSG and Real interested...but are they willing to pay now? Or are they just telling Mendes they'll be rrady to pay him 10M if he comes for free. Clubs lose players for free all over the place. It sucks, but it is what it is. Players have all the power with their agents these days. So as a club, you are in a tight spot. Unless you are PSG and can offer insane wages to everyone and their mother, than you are forced to juggle things around.

In the end, as I said, if Leao doesn't extend, it's a full 2 seasons we have with him (if we don't sell). It means the project continues. We may even win a CL in those years. You never know. And we may be ready for a re-set anyway.

I think we should put some focus on renewing the ones expiring in 2024, for sure. That's mainly Leao and Bennacer. But it wouldn't be a disaster if we didn't this summer. The ones that have contracts expiring next summer...I'm not too bothered with (Samu, Diaz - loan anyway, Giroud and Tata).
