Summer Mercato 2022
After all this CDK will probably flop.

That's our luck.
This would be a very risky transfer. Not saying this because we may miss out on him or what not. Not trying to get ahead and make that ok. Just saying....at 30m, it's already super high. Especially for a club like ours that can't afford to get a 30m transfer wrong.
CDK is an icing on the cake. We have already baked a delicious cake.

Investing is a complex thing for a company, and now Milan is a company, not a club belong to a Bunga specialist who buy it for a hobby.

Continue on the current talents and some loan with options is still the appropriate policy.

In today's market €30m is not super high if you want talent/potential/quality at CL level.

There are no guarantees for any transfer that it can't go wrong, but we need to take some risks. We've done that in the past, some were good and some failed. There are only "a handful" of players in the world that I would be 95-100% sure would become success at Milan, but they are not available for €30-35m or fit our salary structure and we are not linked with any of them... The management and the coach has made CDK their first choice for a reason, they believe in him so much.

Scamacca signed for West Ham for €36m + €6m addons + 10% of future transfer... I know it's the PL, but he's not a bigger talent than CDK.

Scamacca might not have the potential of CDK but he has played in a bigger league so his price is justified.

CDK transfer is risky as he take up a big portion of our budget. If he turn out to be another andre silva then we would have wasted our chance to upgrade the team.

Scamacca has had two more years than CDK to prove himself. At CDK's age Scamacca played in Serie B. His price may be justified, at least for PL clubs.

CDK doesn't take up a big portion of our budget because he is super expensive, but because our budget is so low. If we want to strengthen with the best talents we must be prepared for prices like that.

And since you brought up André Silva I still think he wasn't given a proper chance here, but that is another discussion not for here and not for now. Damn, I shouldn't even have mentioned it. Icon_lol2

We honestly can't base good transfers or acceptable fees by what the EPL clubs will pay. What they do is stupidity. I' not even gonna start naming the players that have been signed at insane fees only to turn out average at best.

It's a trend in the market. I get it. Eat or be eaten. But I think paying 30m+ for a player that's played his entire career in Belgium so far.....is good enough. Not gonna say it's overpaying. He's gotta be good if our management team (knowing how particular they are about spending) wants him this bad. But we also have to stay within our own parameters.

Anyway, i am not disagreeing that 30m is, in the grand scheme of things, not super high for a top CL level talent. So hopefully CDK turns out to be that. I think the key to mitigate the risk of spending so much in a transfer fee, is a reasonable salary. Because if a player is on a reasonable salary, than for the most part you'd always be able to recoup some of the money if things don't work out. It's when crazy salaries are being thrown at players when clubs get stuck with them for the long haul.

Btw, does anyone know what's up with Renato? Still waiting for PSG?  Icon_lol2
When we were hemorrhaging money and finishing 10th shit a shit mercato was expected.
But when we are in the black have a small wage bill for what we achieved and are champions this has just been a disaster thus far.Its bizarre even.
I don't get it. If we are 3M short, then give saladmaker on loan, quit diaz or give them a primavera player. If we are not capable of creating 3M extra from our own assets then it is a shameful financial disaster.
Gazzetta dello Sport: Milan have raised their offer for De Ketelaere and the Belgian is now ‘one step away’ from finally completing his long-awaited move to the Rossoneri, which is worth €35m in total.
