Sorry guys, I know the Adli and Vranckx situations suck. Wish it turned out differently and still hope it will

But it seems we forget very quickly. Young players' careers die at Milan? Come on now. Just a year ago we (and the rest of the football world) were praising Milan for it's reliance on youth. Almost every article out there had the average age of the squad listed and how it's among the best. So now a couple of youngsters don't work out....and all of a sudden we are bad at developing youngsters or giving them a chance?

We were not the best at youth development and scouting a year ago when we got all the praise. Far from it. It was exaggerated. I'd be the first to say. We did a great job with a certain group, but we haven't proven we can consistently do that across a period of time.
With that being said, we are also not terrible now. That would also be an exaggeration and focusing on the moment. Very short term.

Let's just say we are a hit or miss at the moment. Our coach has now been with the same group for a while and he tends to trust certain players (that he's known for longer) more. This is a problem. But we also crapped on him (me on the forefront actually) about the JPH situation, and turns out Pioli was right. Let's see if Adli proves him wrong.

Milan - it's a place where youngsters come for their careers to die...

Is this a serious post or are you joking?

It is not that they "didn't worked out", it's they didn't even got a chance to try. And that's not just under Pioli. that is present a long time before him.
And yes, some of them will "die" (are dying). And those are youngsters under/around 20. Young players (23-25) situation is far better.
And yes we are bad at giving chance to youngsters (not young). Noone can persuade me that all of them are that bad during training (or whatever excuses are commonly used), that they don't deserve at least 10-15 minutes per game.
It's ether you get far more chances than you deserve or you don't get any. How many chances Diaz screwed? And yet, it's Diaz after Diaz after Diaz...
If you lead 3-0... than ffs don't put Krunic and Messias in, put Adli and Vranckx. But no, they won't get chance even under those circumstances. If they are really that bad, so opponent will score 3-4 goals in 10 minutes because of them, than fuck it... at least you proved your point... and instead of you we will chase one who bought them...
And what about those who (it seems so far) worked. Tonali? If I remember correctly he wasn't playing at first because we were trying to "renegotiate" his clause and save 2 pity millions. Than he got his chance when there was no other option. Kalulu? Pestilence was required to plaque team, before he was given a chance.
Those who get their chance "by the grace of higher power" and seize it, those might survive - others will rot(are rotting).

Agree on Kalulu. He showed he was good enough on many occasions but as soon as Romagnoli was fit, Kalulu went back on the bench. We are seeing a similar (although not quite the same) situation with Thiaw now and hopefully he doesn't end up on the bench for no reason.

But I get it. I understand. Criticism is warranted. But also we have very little examples. A lot of what's being talked about this year is based on Adli and Vranckx. But imo, and we can agree to disagree, the club and Pioli have shown capability of signing and working with youngsters. How some of that came about could be argued (Kalulu situation for example - and believe me, I tend to be on your side of the argument there). But I see some strong statements (not just here or you directly, but in general) about Milan and Pioli being essentially incompetent with youngsters....when in all reality, not sure any of these youngsters that are supposedly deserving of time, have proven them totally wrong (yet). I'll wait and see what happens with Adli in the future (in or out of Milan). But as of now, I would rather use the proven cases (when it comes to evaluating competence of our management) than the unproven ones. And when it comes to proven cases under the Pioli-Maldini reign...we only have JPH to truly go on. And we all know how that's turned out.

Italian coaches have a hard time trusting young players in general, especially foreign young players. Even Italian national team directors have complained about how young players do not get playing time in Serie A, much less than the other countries. A young player has to "earn the trust" of his coaches in Italy...whatever that means. We had a better track record in the prior years mostly because the young players we signed weren't quite as young. Theo was 23 and played for both Madrid clubs already; Tomori was also 23 when he signed here; Tonali and Bennacer both had Serie A experience already. The players we are signing right now are even younger and have little experience playing in top flight competition, nevertheless Serie A. The learning curve was always going to be steep for them and risk of failure is high because of that.

The real question we need to ask ourselves is, why did we sign these unproven players when we needed players who can contribute right away? If Maldini knows Pioli doesn't like young players with no Serie A experience, then why sign them instead of more proven players, be it players in Serie A or a couple years older? There seemed like a real disconnect between the coaching staff and personnel department this season and that is something we have to address ASAP.

Longo: Seems clear to me that Pioli doesn’t like Adli so will sell if receive a good offer. Vranckx and Dest will not be bought permanently,

I wouldn't say they're completely incompetent, but they do have some "weird moments". I get why we (or any club) would sign youngster who might "not be ready". Better to buy him this year for 10 M than next for 20, or some other club might snatch him in the meantime. That's ok. What I don't understand is what's coming after. They're sitting on the bench or train with primavera. Why? How they're supposed to improve and flourish? Use every opportunity you have to give him some time on the field, or do Chelsea, Real, PSG thing - send them on loans right away or leave them one more year in club from where you signed them if they're interested. They need to play regularly. Send them on "zero loans", because we're going to pay their salary anyway if they stay. I'm sure there are lot of clubs which would be happy to get a player they don't have to pay. And I doubt their training facilities or program is that bad it will "harm" player more than not playing at all.

But of course, I'm puzzled at how few chances Yacine Adli has got after his reasonably promising pre-season. I would have liked to know what is wrong, because something must be. This is not normal.

What exactly is the point of profit and if there is a point we need billion euros profit to actually do something with it Undecided

For me it is not the count of how many work out or not, it's the way they are handled. IMO it's not ok to wait for possible profit instead of having even more good players. A good playing Adli can be sold for even more profit besides contributing on the pitch. Zero minute zero goal is not ok and certainly not better than 10 goals and 75 minutes and double the profit if we need to sell.

JPH and Adli cases are not similar. Adli was a starter for a relegation battling french club and was amongst the best in their squad who even gave a hard time to even PSG midfield. JPH was a cheap gamble which didn't came in our favour but atleast covered his transfer fee with his few goals. The purpose of both the transfer wasn't the same.
