Zirkzee's 15m commission for his agent plus a silly spender like MU (maybe make-up by the clever agent) could end the relationship here.
And I'm fine with it.
Firstly, our policy of not giving up to blackmailing.
Secondly, 15m equals a good addtion or 2, 3 potential players.
Thirdly, IMHO, our top priority should be a midfielder who can actually defend and there is already some solutions for attacking department.
The most likely solution is playing Leao in a more central role.
- Portugal NT tried it in 3-4-1-2 https://sempremilan.com/rr-leao-new-posi...-euro-2024
- Real 4-3-1-2 with Vinicius & Rodrigo playing upfront is a nice example, as Vinicius is similar to Leao: "must (and can) beat 2 opponents at the left flank, but only needs a feint in the center for a shoot".
- We have a very strong attacker to partner him in Pulisic, while there are Okafor, Chuku, and even Jovic (easy to get) or Carmada (playing in top 2 can protect his improvement) who can or can be tested.
I think playing 2 forwards is an OK option.
Of course, a frontline of Leao and Zirkzee is even better.
15 million is a whole lot as a percentage of the transfer fee or his salary, it may be the reality of football but it is nuts. In this case there is no 'this is a free transfer' excuse.
15M definitely is a very high and borderline unreasonable commissions fee for Zirkzee. Problem is, if we don't want to pay high commissions, we probably won't get any high level players. That's just the price of doing business nowadays, whether we like it or not. If the goal this year is to get a CF who is more or less proven or has sky high potential, i think we are going to have to bite the bullet at some point

I think the move will colapse....
Seems that CDK will go to Atalanta and we cut of the 10% of the future sale.
In other news, De Zerbi will go to Marseille.
I thought Atalanta got 1m discount but the 10% future resale is kept.
Regardless, it is pathetic how incompetent our management shows with this deal. I still can't wrap my head around it that we (i.e. management) would even agree to sit down to talk about it. I mean, if it is up to me, I would just keep CdK and give him another chance with Fonseca. He is now more confident, with no Pioli around to screw his head. I am willing to see him be a fake No. 9 (isn't that what we want from Zirkzee? sorry if I am wrong and please don't laugh) and partner with Leao and Pulisic upfront.

I like your thougts about CDK, but its a huge gamble. If he fails we need to rely on Okafor and Jovic.. Not reassuring. What kind of influence do Zirkzee have in all this? Can he change agent? Can he lower his salary demands so the move can get through? We wil give him 4,5 mill a year in a 4 year contract, if he accepts 4 million, those two million could be the game changer for the commision to Kia. I dont know, just some thoughts.
Other rumour is that we are after Mats Wieffer. I like the guy, tall and solid DM with offensive qualities. If we are going to be a "dutch" team, lets go all in for Joey Veerman. He is extremely talented. He was the midfielder with most created chances in Europe in 2024. A midfield with Wieffer as a DM with Reijnders- Veerman between the lines could be devastating.
How to?
- Sell Bennacer. He has his suitors, and we will probably demand 25-30 million. Sell Pobega- 8-10 million.
Veerman and Wieffer will probably cost 70-75 million in total, so if we still hav that budget of 100 million without any sales, we will still have money to a quality striker.
Veerman has insane passing creativity. I love what I've seen from that player. No clue how much he'd cost, but yea, I'm all in. Veerman over Wieffer for me, although they are different players and serve a different purpose.
3 man mid made up of 3 Dutch players? Weiffer, Veerman and Reijnders? Sign me up!!!

We got Leao, Theo, and Maignan under Maldini. Current team got us Pulisic. Those 4 can be called world class, and we only pay reasonable commissions.
I think "the chance to get or keep the players we need is limited" is more exact. Letting Dollar, Hakan and Kessie go for free and lacking good starters for some positions are preventing us to reach higher.
We must also accept that our "second most CLs after Real" will soon disappear. Even that phrase looks quite absurd now.
I feel OK with it, as the whole organization has a solid policy and keeps advancing at reasonable pace.

None of those four guys were riding the hype Zirkzee is currently riding when we signed them. Theo was mostly a Real reject; Maignan was mostly a PSG reject who just had one good season; Leao had talent but wasn't exactly being chased by all the major European clubs yet; Pulisic came off a couple of bad seasons with Chelsea. When you sign players like that, agents have a harder time demanding high commissions. Zirkzee is the flavor of the month right now, and those guys won't come cheap, nor will their agents demand anything less. Im ok with not wanting to pay excessive commissions, because it only feeds agent greed, the player doesn't even get a penny of it. But if that's our strategy, we can't be chasing these kinds of flavor of the month players
It will be 22M+2M add ons. We had 3M last summer as a loan fee. Considering his spell at Milan, I can't complain. Any news on Salad? I am hoping for 5-6M from him.
It's just a good thing for a club like us to start the season with +30M in the pocket.
