Well, Dzeko scored 14 Goals in 30 Games, and he only started half of those games. It wasn't poorly. If he was a starter he would have had 20 Goals for sure. Kompany is their leader, and winning an EPL title is not too shabby for a team that has no chemistry. They did poor in UCL, but were in a very good group.

Armero signed with Juventus, and I didn't know Drenthe was a good LB  he also was sold to Everton where he plays Left Wing.

Abbiati is declining, there is no real CDM, and LB is a chronic pain, so our defense is average without Silva. However, Cassano, Pato, Robinho, El Shaarawy, Boateng and Montolivo can still form a formidable attack force after Ibra's departure. Ibra and Silva are of the same class but we need the latter much more due to the lack of good partners around him.
Silva is not really a big match player. When the pressure was on him, the defender made mistakes quite often. Yes, Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta and Nesta made mistakes, but only at old age. Silva is at best age, and he learned the skills from world best teachers, but he is not calm enough when the tension is built up. He still need a Nesta next to him to share the responsibility.

You might call me crazy, but I think that at some big games an average Mexes played better than Thiago Silva. Surely, Silva is overall better defender than Frenchman but his showing against Arsenal and Juve weren't good enough. Mexes did a terrible mistake against Barca, but he was maybe our best player against Arsenal away when our whole team choked...
Just saying that playing Mexes with quicker defender can do the job this season...

I've heard that Acerbi is strong enough to stop Ibra and quick enough to follow young striker like Borini. He is tall (1m92) and left-footed. So quite a partner for Mexes

I really cant believe some of u are saying Silva is not a big game player and Mexes is better than him in big games.
I second that Gab. I mean it seems like some people here try to ease off the pain of losing Silva by belittling his importance. I know it's a matter of opinion but PSG are willing to pay a hefty sum of € 42 M for a player who's injured for most of second half of last season. How many clubs really stood in line to get Mexes' signature when he became free agent?

I know, I guess when he scored that extra time goal at Nou Camp, he must be lucky the corner kicker just so happened to hit the ball on his head, and lucky for him, the ball also bounced in a direction where Valdez cant catch.

Silva is not big-game-flop, but he is not great either. He has world class ability but his mentality is average.
Brazil lost 3 matches with him last season against Germany, Bosnia and Mexico. His individual mistakes included.
Milan: Roma (passed to Menez), Arsenal and against Inter or Juve (I don't really remember, correct me if I'm wrong).
He is still one of the best CB, technical wise, but he is not a good leader, can't handle the pressure.
EDIT: By saying Silva is not really a big game player, I didn't belittle his importance. It is like if I say Ibra is not a big game player.
Not trying to be rude, but I really have not read anything like Silva is not a great leader, can't handle pressure....when Milan wanted to make him captain before the end of the season. Or how happy you all were when he stayed at the end a few weeks ago, as I really don't recall any of you stating Berlu should sell him b/c he cracks under the pressure, not a big game player and not a leader.
It is easy to hate or trash talk someone who left.....but be real, Silva is by far the best CB in the world and he done his share of big games to prove that.
Those three Brazil matches were all friendlies. He might made mistakes in Roma, Arsenal, Inter and Juve, but he also saved Milan from those teams in the same games time and time again.
