Worldwide, the total raised from these deals is more than £2.7 billion, giving Premier League clubs an average media income from league games of around £40 million a year from 2007 to 2010, and again will be similar for the next 3 years.

Parachute payments, which are for when clubs are relegated, and it's around £12m over two years.

They also get £800k per position in the table. Chelsea as champions earned £16m last year for coming 1st.

Yep 40 mil a season , out of the 2.7 billion 50 per cent of total money goes on an equal share basis to the 20 Premier League clubs, while relegated clubs also receive some of this money in the form of a parachute payment. 25 per cent of the money is paid as facility fees, which are determined by the number of appearances on television. 25 per cent is paid in merit payments, determined by the position that a club finished in the league.

But for alot of the clubs from say 10th down that 40 mill is for players wages travel bonuses , all the club staff etc...Ofcorse they make more money on top of that but you can see why they are almost in alot of debt. With the money they make and spend it just doesnt balance out.Utd are still losing millions every month.Their loan repayments even with the bond they got they just can't sustain it, which despite what they say is why they couldnt keep Tevez have renewed Giggs at 37 are begging Scholes to stay want V.Der Sarr to stay and renewed Carrick for 3 year's.

Braida's apparently heading to Brazil to try and sort out a deal for Ganso apparently. Now's probably the best time as not only is the Ganso and Santos relationship all but finished, Leo's position in Inter is looking very strained right now, as he's had an awful week and if rumours were to be believed, prepared to quit had Moratti not stopped him.

Astori is in Roma's sights as a replacement for Mexes, although we're very interested in getting him back to Milan to be groomed as Nesta's long term replacement (milannews again). He didn't convince me last year and I'm not sure if he can reach the heights Nesta has, but his season this year has been superb and is worth taking a shot on imo (a lot like Abate who before his return didn't seem a great signing).

Also mentioned above is the whole Pirlo saga. According to milannews and goal.com, Juve seem close to him as they only want Aquilani if Liverpool reduce the price, which seems unlikely.

Finally, some news on Beretta (primavera striker) who scored 4 goals in a 5-0 win yesterday. Galliani has said (though as a joke for now) that Genoa can have him for 10m euros + Boateng's other half.

Right now, I'm genuinely excited and curious about the summer transfer dealings, as this could work out being an even more important mercato than last summer.
As I was beginning to suspect Pirlo might leave. Of course only rumours but can see it happening.
The thing about EPL is that, even if they r in debt, they still earn more than teams in Serie A. Personally, I would rather be in debt due to over spending than be in debt due to lack of income.
As for ManU, they are making money, problem is that they need to pay about 65mil interest a year to the bank. Thats has more with owners more than mismanagement.

For this summer, I really think there will be even more exit than I once hope for. For once I actually believe that Janku, Bonera, Legro, Oddo, Papa and even Zambro and Antnini might be all gone this summer, not to mention the midfield foursome of Pirlo, Slowdorf, Ambro, and Gattsuo. add to that, MVB and Flamini might be gone too.
I knew these co-ownership deals with Genoa would bite us in the @$$.

Beretta, our Primavera player, was used as a pawn and we traded half of him to get half of Boateng..and now that Beretta scored four goals, his stock went up, and Prince's stock has definitely gone up after a good season... Now we have to pay more for both of them, instead of paying that simple 6 million to Portsmouth. Beretta is a really talented player, I like him alot more than Verdi but thats just me.

We also have Strasser, Oduamadi and Zigoni's 50 % cards traded to get Sokratis. Zigoni seems to be having a decent season at Genoa, Oduamadi not so great for us this year, Strasser definitely made a name for himself so his price goes up.

I just wonder how are we going to deal with it at the end?

I think your approach to this is wrong. You are counting the losses, but instead you should count the gains.

Yes, we could have just paid 6mil for Boateng outright. But how knew he would turn out great back then? Would you rather pay a very risky 6 million or a certain 10-12 million for a guaranteed great player?

Same goes for our youngsters. They HAVE to play somewhere while they are developing. With the coownership other teams have more incentive do develop our talent. They are doing "the weeding out" process - we will end up paying more, but we will know that the money is spent well.

Just my 2 cents. Okmilan

Co-ownerships make no sense on the pitch and don't even make sense financially.

You know why this is wrong in my opinion? Teams have scouts, the thing you are saying is like refusing to risk and taking the easy way out for bad player assessment, mercato and scouting. And besides why not straight loan then, may be or may be not possible in Boateng's case but in general.

Galliani loves co-ownerships, and he certainly isn't a rookey when it comes to transfers. Sagrin

Aside from the reasons I already mentioned, co-ownerships also help you build relationships with other clubs. The relationship and co-owned players are really valuable in negotiating transfers. Okmilan

The first time I read a good argument for it, but still don't believe co-ownerships are really useful Sagrin
