The newest rumor (according to Marca) is that the transfer fee for Kaka will be 13 million, and his salary will be 8 million (6-7 million according to Gazzetta, still too high IMO).
It is also claimed that arrangement has been made that Cassano will return to Sampdoria the next summer.
If cassanos to return to sampdoria maybe this is why we are going for giuseppe rossi. I can see rossi arriving, if i was to make the deal id do our famous loan+option to buy type deal for rossi, see how he plays when he is back in january until the end of the season with a set 10mln fee to be paid, if he doesnt perform we simply send him back to villareal and look further into a cassano replacement.

Good plan, just one problem here though.... Who will we play in the first half of the season when Rossi's recovering? And why pay wages for a player we know isn't going to play until January? Why not just get him in January? No one else is interested, and from now till January,no one will be able to see how well he'll do anyway. Why not just save half a season's wages and Loan him in January. Our january signings seem to have done the trick for us in recent years (Pato, T.Silva, Van Bommel....). Loaning him now means nothing really, since he can't even play with us till January at the earliest.
Why pay 6 to 8 Mil in wages for a 30+ year old (who, does look like his former self somewhat this season) player, when we could grab some younger, quality replacements with lower wages for much less?
13 Mil + say three years of 8 Mil wages is like..... 37 Mil!
How many decent players could we get for money like that? Especially when their wages would be between 1 to 3 Mil a season! We could hire a youngster who's 5 year wages (assuming at 1 Mil a season) would be even less than what the guy earns in a single year!
We could grab Yanga (say 10M + 1M x 5year wages) Rossi (10M + 2M x 4year wages) and still have 2 Mil left over to pay off De Sciglio, Strasser and Cristante's wages for the next two seasons!

Because at the end of the day, if we wait until january to buy rossi, for the same reason you just mentioned, why pay half a seasons worth of wages if he's not playing many other clubs will think this way, and many big clubs were after signing rossi when was on form so if we do in fact wait until january a lot more clubs will be interested in buying him because they won't have to pay half a season of wages with him not being able to play, hence if those teams do in fact want him they will easily out bid him and we will lose him. My previous post mentioned if he is cassanos replacement, cassano can play for the season once rossi is fit we can rotate the two and see if rossi can regain his original form and come back to being a great player, if not we can send him back and look for a cassano replacement the following summer mercato if this apparent agreement with cassano returning to samp next summer is truthful.
So at the end of the day, loaning rossi now or buying him is our best option although risky. Sure we will pay half a season of wages and gain his signature with no or hardly any competition, but then like i said what happens when he is fit come january and we try loaning him and teams like manu man city juventus inter come back into the equation? all teams who can out spend us (maybe not inter). He is a milan fan, but at the end of the day villareal are a struggling team and they will stand firm for the best offer possible. This is some what of a business venture, you take the risk of spending money on his wages with out him playing hoping he'll be his former self upon return, but then if he's not you wasted half a years worth of paying his wage. Before rossis injury he could've played for any team in the world, his price was that of 25mln euros he was a top class player, what prooves it more is that with out him i guarentee is the reason villareal got relegated.
Or, a third option could be to verbally or whatever agree on a deal for rossi on terms that we don't take him until january, but this isn't a smart deal on villareals part. If villareal were to let him go for a very cut price, the best is now because just like you said i doubt a team like them in difficulty and now relegated to could afford to pay half a seasons wages with out the guy playing, so for villareal i think offloading him now rather then in january is in their best interest, especially when paying half a season of rossis wages for them is probably buying a player of caliber to be in their squad or starting 11 (1-3mln transfer fee) is the players they look at.

Valid points all around.... but what if he doesn't go back to his former self? What if the ACL tear truly ended his career as a top player? Like you said, its a risky business venture. Is it one we are willing to risk?

yeah its really one we cant afford, and i find it stupid that he would be a target for us.. no doubt hes talented but the point you brought up of us having to pay his wages for half a season with out him playing, ontop of us already having had a plague of injuries last season why would we ever invest in a player whos had two huge injuries? His particular injury as someone else states in the previous page or so is also one that is very easy to reoccur.. I would save whatever money were going to spend on him and if we simply can't afford a player of his caliber (not injured) then simply save and buy our man next season. I don't expect to much for this upcoming season, i expect a good seria a run and with a little luck possibly winning it but for now unless big additions are made im counting cl out of the equation.
I watched a video on youtube earlier today highlighting ibrahimovic vs lorient, not just his goals but his overall game play. I'd like to say and finally admit i will miss ibra sosososo much. I disliked him when he played for us because of how he is, and how i always though he held back our team with his generally slow play. I notice now that he's gone that his "slow" play is made up for with his very accurate passing/assisting, for example if he were to get the ball and stop running for a few seconds or just do his normal stand for a few seconds and take on his man he'll just give a powerful pass right to his team mates feet and every one is a goal threatening pass.
What i also noticed though, i didnt see pastore play and silva wasnt there either, i dont know who else they were missing but i saw menez,lavezzi .. PSG is a useless team even though im judging off one game, the players around ibra and lavezzi and menez looked like shit, couldn't finish numerous opportunities infront of the net a la robinho but worst because it was 4 or 5 chances in one game, and they simply have no real flair or style to their play. It's just one game, but from my perspective i think i can safely count PSG out of any sort of chance of winning the CL.
man city got eliminated very early last year and they are even more complete then psg with a superstar in every position in the starting 11 and a superstar or very solid player as a sub.
i think psg will end in similar fashion so im not worried, but i do miss ibra ill finally admit and now that i see the names were linked with and we cant sign dzeko tevez damiao or rvp anymore id be stupid happy if we had kept ibra.
