Summer Mercato 2011
Honestly, if Milan is to challenge on all fonts, they must come out and get max points early in the league, that way, they can concentrate more on CL comes March with room to drop points in the league.

if we plan to play with a destroyer ala Van Bommel in the future as well, for more balanced midfield, i'd like to have Guarin at RCM...i like him, he is big, strong, fast and skilled. 2 way midfielder...He will be free agent next season. ...

Guarin is the Porto RM guy right??? from the very little i have seen him, he looks like an excellent crosser of the ball and as you mentioned big & strong and i just checked, he is 25...so not a bad option although everybody is talking about the need of a LM rather than RM

Asamoah is certainly worth 15Mio to be honest...we talked about this guy in the old forum after he impressed 2 seasons ago while still 20...he is now 22 and can improve even more...Udinese will not be selling him cheap especially if they will be cashing in on Sanchez (Inter) & Inler (Napoli).
Udinese will likely not settle below 20 mln euros. Or that is where negotiations will start. From there we might be able to drop the price by adding some co-ownerships and whatnot.

I don't think it's about the league, it is more about our first team player. We have good backups for the league as we could see, we still collected points even many were injured (this is worse than a combine of first team and subs players).

If Milan want to challenge all fronts, they need to improve in the midfield (inclusive Boateng, this guy was good but not the man who can rely on the important games like CL but he could be very useful for Milan in the league or as backup in CL). At least 2 good-great CM should arrive (Ganso? & Hamsik?).

I might be overrating Prince or maybe this was just his good season, it happens. I still think he should be a starter for us next season, he has what it takes to be in our CL-winning squad. I really like what Allegri has done with him in the CAM position, but that might just've been due to circumstances. We will be buying a LCM so therefore Boa will remain at CAM, but if Berlusconi's gift is a trequartista then the situation might be another. In that case, if we have someone like Pastore (or god forbid Messi) I could see Boateng put in another role. Then he can compete for one of the midfield roles ( still don't like the idea of having two pure destroyers in the midfield.. we need dynamism)
I didn't like Boateng at first, but he gained me over by his workrate. I guess we fans aren't unreasonable after all. As long as they run their asses off and work hard for the team, we will appreciate them. Not to forget that he is a nice dancer. Big Grin

I like Prince a lot but, if the team is really going to compete for CL, under no circumstances (stress on the "no circumstances" part) should He be our starting AM next season. An absolute beast as a CM or DM, but he's lack of that final ball, that killer pass, makes him a very ordinary (but hardworking) attacking midfielder as he showed this season. Playing him in that spot and expecting to win CL, is akin to expecting Robinho to be more clinical in front of goal... wishful thinking.
Don Silvio, what is your aim???
Article on football italia mentions hamsik being excited about our interest in him. I was the one a few days ago to say that we shouldn't talk about hamsik because there is no way Napoli would let him go. But now I'm starting to think it can happen. Give casino to Napoli as part of the deal. Get Diego to replace casino. Get asamoah for LCM. Then we're done.
Please no Diego. What do we need Diego? Just for bench warmer? If Cassano go, better to find a finisher.

Exactly, when I wrote that I was replying someone about getting players early instead of in August.

Having players early helps the team and the coach to prepare the team better thus, getting great results right away in the beginning of the season.
