Seing Sampdoria spending €25m recently Napoli spending a lot ,Inter Roma Juve.I am envious , not that spending guarantees succes.But can you imagine if Milan had some cash available what could happen.
€30/€40m last summer , with a quality mid signed this window.

First of all, football is still by far the most popular sports around the World. Basketball is getting closing the gap but the gap is still huge.

Secondly, I think fans want excitement from their teams. Of course winning is the best solution but there can only be one winner per season and that's why transfer is another way to get fans excited. Unlike the Big 4 North American sports where fans can get excited during Draft days, Football teams don't have that.

Having said that, I am a strong believer of building the team internally and adding the missing piece, and most importantly the right piece with transfers. Bayern and to some extend Juve are the models I wish Milan is copying bc these two are teams who can hold on to their stars while also develop them at the same time, the when the time is right, they have the ability to sign the missing pieces to complete their team.

That's someone I don't see Milan could follow bc Berlu likes to be in the media too much.

I agree on your comments about fans wanting excitement, though I think that it's relative to success. To clarify this point, success isn't necessarily winning, but rather competing within club expectations. For Milan, anything less than 3rd place is inadequate and traditionally competing for honours is what excites fans. For a club like Sassuolo, staying in Serie A is success. If teams are playing at or exceeding their expected competitive levels, fans will often feel excited and hope for greater things in the future.

It's more complicated though, as what excites fans might be dependant on club culture. For example, Milan fans traditionally want to win by playing attacking and attractive (proactive) football, Juve generally focus more on winning and less about the aesthetics of the game, which is why I think that there was quite a number of fans disappointed with the performances of the side under Allegri even in the year he won the league.

I obviously agree with your point of building the team internally and adding missing pieces using the transfer market.

Football-Italia has said that we have made an offer to Roma for Destro. The offer apparently is €5mil for a 6 month loan, and an option to buy for a further €15mil in the summer paid out in installments.
First of all, it's hard for me to believe that we offered ANY money to begin with. Also, I think teams are reluctant to loan us players with options to buy because they know that we never take up those options...so the fact that it says we've offered €5mil up front for the loan shows somewhat of a promise by Milan that they'll actually follow up on their option...but I still don't believe it. The only thing that might make this believable is that Destro is a forward and that is the only position we seem to be willing to spend money on...judging by recent examples.

I personally don't think we need to make this signing right now. Destro is a good player, but I would rather spend the money on a great, technical CM because that's what I think will take this team to another level. As much as Menez's selfishness has been irritating at times, the guy has scored a lot of goals for us. More so then Destro would've IMO. So let's just leave Menez up top for the next 6 months because it has worked allright and there is no need to change it now. If there is any money there let's put it towards a fund for a class CM. Don't sign anyone just for the sake of it. Destro is not needed. He may improve us a bit here and there and give us another option....but he is not a necessity.

The other thing....he is in no way worth €20mil. What has he done to warrant a price like that. He's been in and out of Roma's line up but is mostly a back up option for them. He's shown promise but has been inconsistent as well. At most, and on a good day, he may be worth €15mil...

The other piece of news today......Samp offering €10mil for Muriel while Udinese want 15. If they find a deal, than Udinese will go for Niang. Issue is that Milan doesn't want to sell him but only give him up on a dry loan with no options. I agree with this.

Destro when he plays he scores.He's 23 & has a good goals to game ratio 1 in 2 for the last 3 years.Is he worth €20m well for Milan thats a huge fee like 2/3 mercato worth.
So to a lot yes he would be , but for us Milan fans we see €20m & straight away think ,that could be used for a quality midfielder or two.We do need a goalscorer as all we have is Menez & if he missed 3/4 games we're screwed.Id welcome Destro.But as was said Im positive we havent offered a cent for him and wont pay €10m let alone €20m.

Thiago Motta would help our current midfield, but it would be 3 or 5 seasons too late. Milan should move forward. A 32-year-old should not be where our money goes.
