I don't know the names don't particularly convince me, they all seem like a big risk.

Bochetti: I wanted him roughly 4 years ago, but his career's nosedived since. Who knows what he'll bring to Milan.
Antonelli: A solid option, but isn't that great.
Munoz: No offence to the guy, but really how good is he? He's developed into a reliable option for Palermo, but is he really any better than what Milan have? (I'm actually asking here, as I don't know much about Munoz).
Paulinho: If we get Paulinho pre-Spurs, then he could be a great buy, but Paulinho of post-Spurs is going to be just a disappointment.
Baselli: A potentially good signing, although he won't offer much now imo.
Destro: Big money for this guy and I understand those who want the money spent on a midfielder, but the club need a striker too. I agree with the signing, although that doesn't mean the club don't need a quality midfielder.

I also read Inzaghi said it's always been his plan to play 4-4-2? I thought he was saying his favoured system was 4-3-3?
There are reports that Galliani has offered Destro 3 mil a year. He makes 1.5 at Roma. It's a huge increase for a guy that really wants first team football. Why not give him something between 1.5-2mil and tell him that he's the first choice striker here. These are the type of deals that have put us in the situation that we are in.

About the rumored names....I'm with Dev. They've all done good things at one point or another but are not particularly in their best moment right now. I'm not convinced until I see them perform for this Milan under Pippo. I've been a huge advocate of getting a midfielder so the name that interests me the most is Paulinho. Although a good player, he's not in the best moment of his career. Also, he is a player of the same mold as Muntari for example. NOT the same quality, I just mean that he does the similar type of "job" in the midfield. I think we need someone really crafty. Someone very technical. I think that's tge type of midfielder that we are missing. Bonaventura has been good, but the more he plays the more I agree with Dev that he is better higher up the field.
Either way, any upgrade is welcomed. And at this point, the way our midfield is performing, Paulinho is an upgrade over all of them probably.

I just don't think we will sign this guy. I think we'll sign Destro and call it a day. I would be very pleased if we went for Antonelli though.
Bocchetti is official on a 6 month loan (thanks to reza for the player thread). He's said he considers himself a CB rather than fullback, which I thought was interesting.

Destro's supposed 3m a year is pretty damn steep. That said, I'm a little uncertain with the figures, as Sportsmediaset say he's earning 1.5m and that will be doubled, while Gazzetta says he earns 2.2m at Roma. Huh Anyway, a decision will be made tomorrow according to Galliani.

nefremo I think if Paulinho performs, he could star in Milan. He's a Muntari style player in that he's box to box and a little more industrial than creative, but at his best he's outstanding at offering an option as a runner from deep into the box. It's a quality that's oddly lacking at Milan, seeing as Muntari tends to stay outside the box and take long shots, while Poli does it at times, but rarely to great effect. None of Montolivo, Essien, Van Ginkel or De Jong do this, while Bonaventura and Suso tend to create from deeper areas, rather than be runners getting on the end of attacks. Speaking of Suso, much like Bonaventura, it's been touted that he's also considered an option in midfield. Just a thought, but could it be that in him we have a player with the qualities that a lot of us want in midfield, only we don't realise it as he's not overly well known and has been generally used wide in his career.
I don't blame anyone for not getting excited about all those names. None of those guys are a guaranteed difference maker for us. But the point is, we are at least trying to be very very active with our mercato. It seems like the pressure is indeed on Galliani to do something and make a difference. Galliani, for the most part, is pretty lazy and would not want to do this kind of dramatic make overs to the team, no matter how much the team needs it.

The one thing i do like about the rumored signings is that all these players are fairly young and therefore can realistically be contributors for us for a few years. Bocchetti is probably the oldest of the group at 28, which is a major improvement to our typical big wage for a player well into his 30s like Essien. The players seems to at least fit our needs from a positional sense as well. Given our limited financial resources, getting younger players with some potential that fit a need is probably the best we can hope for these days. And those are the exact type of transfers i always critized Galliani for not making. At least, it seems like we are making some progress to try to stay competitive in second half of the season.
They are keep getting more players without getting rid of the deadweights. Won't be long till someone complains Milan have too many players and needs to sell before buying.
We are going to end up with 50 players this summer when everyone else that's on loan returns. Sagrin

By the way....does anyone have an opinion on Lorenzo Tonelli? He is the other CB in Empoli's CB duo. Rugani is owned by Juventus, but Tonelli (25) has impressed me the few times that I've seen them play. As a matter of fact he's been more solid then Rugani in my opinion.
3m for a young unproven player would be absurd business, but anything is possible with Galliani. It is really interesting that he could skimp on transfer fee to an unbelievable extent, but have no problem splashing out money on salary as if those fund could fall from the sky.

maybe he is only responsible for "capital spending" (i.e. transfer fee) but is not responsible for "operational expenditure" (i.e. salary). it doesn't make business sense, as a dollar is a dollar. and since those fund all come from Berlusconi, shouldn't he be upset with the way Galliani wastes his money?

Also, if Paulinho came and Inzaghi switched to 4-4-2, it would probably mean that Montolivo would be benched. And that would make me very happy.

You won't be the only one. Devilol
Interesting news out of Spain, Ariedo Braida is apparently taking over as their International Sporting Director. I guess Barca really wants those frequent flyer miles Braida always generates with his useless scouting trips lol.
