Just found this on Goal.com, but haven't found other links to it...:

Seen him play a few times, good player but I don't think a good fit for us. What are we doing with Niang and others?

I read somewhere Niang signed a new contract till 2017? Don't have the source right now.

Dev, let me start off by saying Hummels is an upgrade over any one of our defenders presently. So if Galliani is making efforts to get him it would be silly for the fans to oppose this.

But when it comes to the player himself, I am a bit like Spitnik and for me it is an athleticism issue. He has good positioning and is calm with the ball, but can be "clumsy" in certain situations when defending because of his lack of athleticism and explosiveness. I've watched Dortmund enough in the past few years to be comfortable to say that he has made a lot of individual "mistakes" because of this. If paired with an athletic and quick/explosive CB like let's say Marquinhos/Silva, he would be the perfect fit for the partnership. Sort of like Nesta-Silva was in the late years of Nesta's career...even though even in those late years Nesta was still a beast and had a lot of athleticism.

This is the reason I am iffy on Hummels. My question will then be who do we pair him up with to complement his abilities. At this point we don't have anyone like that, and I'm affraid if he is paired with Paletta or Rami for example we are all going to be very dissapointed at the Hummels we see. In other words, does he compliment one of our existing CBs and make them better? Maybe, but not significantly IMO. Not as much as Silva or Marquinhos type of CB will.

So if we get Hummels and another Cb then great. If we are only going to spend 30+mil on 1cb then maybe we should look at other TYPES of CBs. I'm not sure I can come up with an example for around the same price. I am a big admirer of Marquinhos, but I doubt PSG will let him go.

Well, yeah. I guess I'd be OK with that...

Seems like we're going for Santos' Lucas Lima. Trequartista, soon 25 years old, never played for Brazil NT. 5 mln euros.

I sure hope we don't wake up in September and realize the new investment was a dream or something

I was thinking about that. Wake up and realize it was all a common subconscious mercato high. And Bonera playing every match. Like the Matrix, only worse.
