Blaming the losses of these two players on Galliani is stretching it in my opinion. Galliani has been an absolutely poor planner and team builder for years, including before 2010. But individual player transfers - like those he decides to get for whatever right or wrong reason - taken in isolation he is far from the worse in football.

Hey all. Tough Saturday, toughest in a long time in many respects.

On the one hand you feel foolish for getting your hopes up, but on the other you still believe that this time it is different. And I do believe the latter still.

1) Kondo deal--disappointing loss to Inter, but Galliani did the right thing by NOT overpaying ONLY IF we get a worthy alternative or worthy alternatives. If we don't, then the Kondogbia loss could be profound. Worthy alternatives: Witsel, Imbula, Allan and Bertolacci. My preference: Allan and Bertolacci.

2) Jackson Martinez deal- Here I think Galliani may be not all to blame. In my opinion his agent and he grudgingly accepted our offer and were always sniffing the air for something better. Agents are far more attuned to the market and anticipated an opening in the near future. That opening came in Mandzukic to Juve. As soon as that deal went through, I had a bad feeling but didn't want to write it out because then weirdly it takes on a reality of its own.

Two huge ego hits for a team with fairly deep self-esteem problems currently. Despite that we shouldn't have to beg players to come play for us and it was right not to grovel and pay that much for either. Kondogbia is a massively terrible human being on the balance of what we saw from his and his repulsive entourage. Anyway, I think we are still in for Ibra and we will get one of Dzeko and Jovetic hopefully. Cavani isn't realistic but you never know.

Now we will see how serious all this talk was of building a team that wants to win immediately. So far it has been as you say in Italian, Pochi fatti, tante parole (little action, lots of words). And lots of selfies, private jets, expensive dinners, stupid grins, posturing, bluster, bravado, boasting...

I agree with the latter sentiments on not blaming Galliani for these transfer things. Players and teams alike know there is more money in futbol these days. They hold out til the last to find it. Unfortunately, Milan is no longer the team, at this point, to make players want to sign right away and drive here the same day in excitement (a la Crespo).

With that said, it really hurts that Inter got the player. It would be one thing if it were an English or Spanish club or whatever, but a direct rival that is really building a team to be reckoned with. Let's hope Galliani has the right players in his pocket to buy next. It's early guys. Let's wait for our competitors to make their moves then alienate their talents. I sense some cheap buys in the future from mega teams like Real, PSG, etc.

Hasan, I have one question: is Bee's money real? There is no way that the 48% share sale was also a sham, I hope?

The swelling consensus in the Italian media seems to be that this money is being fronted by Finnivest and Bee's investment will make a difference in about 40 days. I think that if we're to be floated on the stock exchange, we want to do it with good players who boost our brand and asset value. That seems to be elementary.

I think the confidence that Finnivest is showing by investing heavily in this market is proof that Bee has convinced them of his backing.

I remain positive. We are struggling currently, but I think we will invest this summer. Now, how all our investments work on the field is for me the more daunting prospect. Had we a more a solid nucleus around which to build, I would be more confident of making the CL. Currently, I think we have better players than our league position suggests but a lot has to go right:

1) the new additions have to live up to at least most of their promise
2) players like DES and SES have to make a definitive leap in quality and remain injury free
3) the midfielders we will reportedly get or are after have to adapt to Serie A (unless we end up with Allan and Berto) and dictate play. That is a huge ask of a young midfielder who has played abroad. De Jong is good, I believe in Monto, but our new additions have to take us up a huge notch


So in short, yes I think the money is real and we will be okay. I haven't been this optimistic in a while, even if Saturday was a complete nightmare.

Claims that JM signed with Atletico without a medical. 100% convinced this is a story ala our famous tooth problem player. There is absolutely no way a team can do that. Something we are not told or may be the reports are just wrong.

Meanwhile Galliani has confirmed that Sevilla want Rami, and that the clubs are negotiating. Maybe he could be included in a deal for Bacca?
