ibra still a great player, but at 34, i dont think he can be a starter every week anymore if his play style is like that.

I want Verratti, Isco and Oscar, but I dont think there is even rumor about them.

With Ibrahimovic coming and playing in the hole, that problem can be somehow solved.

Count me in too! I feel like I've been fighting that fight for ages! We have such a "mechanical" midfield. Nobody can take a player on, nobody can consistently provide vertical passes, nobody can consistently break the press and instead they panic an lose possession, nobody to calm the side down and have ability to keep possession even under intense pressure, etc, etc. I think people put too much emphasis on the physical aspects sometimes that we forget that football needs technicians and magicians too.

For example, Madrid started the game against City today with Kroos, Modric, Isco in the midfield. None of them ever panicked under pressure. Kept possession, created chances, comfortably even under pressure consistently brought the ball to the front three. And that's just the midfield. On top of that they have technicality in the likes of Marcelo, Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, even Carvajal. Now I'm not comparing us with Madrid, but God are we so far behind in the technical aspect compared to the top teams. And EVEN SO, we are still looking at players like Witsel who although a good player, definitely far from what we need!

As unpopular as this opinion is, and I, by no means, support this idea (so don't bash me for saying it), but Montolivo is the technical director for this team. Whether we like it or not, Montolivo is the captain and supposedly one of the most important players on the team. He is supposed to be the new Pirlo for us, and the team is going to ride that premise until the bitter end.

I agree we need technical players in the midfield, but it's not like we have a good box to box either. Witsel is one of the top box to box players in the world these days, and he can bring something that we do not currently have with his skill set. As many teams in the world show these days, a good box to box midfielder can be a huge difference maker in the way a team plays. Witsel can add some dynamism and versatility to a midfield that would otherwise be very one dimensional and stagnant.
