Haven't really watched Soriano. How was he last season?

Also, word on the internet is that Roma accepted a €28m (€23m + €5m in bonuses) offer for Romagnoli but the player rejected the move because he will only leave the capital for Milan. Comes from various sources like Sportitalia and Alfredo Pedullà (self-proclaimed Wolf of Calciomercato, with a twitter cover photo only an Italian journalist would dare to upload).

Not quite sure if it's the truth or just media games but I can see the Romagnoli deal coming to an end sooner or later with the player wearing the red&black.

Here's a nice article about him.

Why would Roma accept Napoli's offer of 23-5 and not Milan's of 25+3.....unless we never bid 25+3. As far as I know we are in good standing with them. We just gave them 20mil for Bertolacci, so I don't see why they wouldn't want to sell to us. Also, Napoli is just as much of a rival as us.

I think this means that we bid 25mil, period. Just like how Galliani said. Also, the "acceptance" of Napoli's 28mil bid is basically telling Galliani that he will need to raise his bid by 3 mil one way or another, even though in the end they might sell anyway.

To piggyback on the posts about Inter, I think they've made good moves on paper within their means (actually outside of them, but they somehow found the money). Whether they overpaid for Kondogbia or not doesn't really matter at this point as he is theirs. The issue for them is that they are now out of funds and keep looking for deals on te basis of loan+options. Funny enough, they seem to find those deals with Jovetic, maybe Perisic, and are on the verge of buying Melo for 3mil. All in all, they have improved their squad. Is it enough to challenge Juventus? Many unknowns will need to fall in place for that to happen. We are in the same boat, but it looks like we have the funds to get players that can perhaps return more "guaranteed" performances. What I mean by that is, they are getting Jovetic because they are strapped for cash. Jovetic is a great player imo, when fit. So if he stays fit they'll get good performances from him, but it's a risk. Same with Montoya, but for different reasons. Kind of like us last year....we took a risk on Menez because we didn't have the cash for anyone else.
Sounds reasonable. Looks like that, we pay 28m overall, we sign Romagnoli.

Agree on Jovetic. It might turn out a great deal for Inter.
Soriano's an interesting link. On the one hand, imo it's a positive sign the club seems to identify the sort of midfielder required in this team, which I think is a box to box midfielder with good technical qualities and the ability to drive forward and contribute goals and assists. However, on the other hand, I don't think Soriano's of the quality we really need in midfield, he's a nice addition (I'd take him over Poli for example), but he's not likely to take a step up and really help lift this team in quality.

Also interesting seems to be the rumour that Romagnoli will only accept Milan. It's happening a little later than I anticipated, but hopefully now means Roma are in no position to use Napoli to drive up the price more.
Completely agree on Soriano.Position yes but quality hell no.He's poor in defence average going forward. He does have his days where hes good but not with any consistency.Idealy we'd get 2 quality mids & get rid of Poli Noce.Quality MIDS X2 Monty DeJong Bertolacci Soriano Mauri YES PLEASE.
However I dont see us getting any quality mids.

The past few days have been quiet on the mercato. Where is Galliani these days? Did he travel to China with the team?

For your information, yes he did. One of my best mates is managing at the hotel we and Merda are staying at in Shanghai. He just sent me a picture he took with Lazy Fester just a few hours ago.

Soriano is a midtable team signing. Perfect for you.

All of your midfielders are below Barca B level. Sagrin
