Venting, sell the club, etc. thread
Berlusconi: "The Chinese eat babies, and I have to sell them Milan?"

This is what our president has just said at a rally.

I am so embarrassed that he is at the helm, and, after this, will probably remain there.

I am not up to date with Italian news, but is there any reason why Berlu is doing interviews everyday now? Literally, everyday this week, he is in front of a microphone and talking about this and that. He had always been an ego maniac who is a big time attention whore, but what is the deal right now? Is he just hyping up for the election or something?

Milan fans should have their voice heard if Berlu decides to not sell, but not in some form of violent protest or banner displays at the San Siro. If you want to make it hurt, you hit them in their wallet. If all Milan fans can unite and not buy season tickets, not attend games, turn off the TV broadcast and not buy any jerseys, souvenirs or whatever other crap they sell, Berlu and his gang of yes men would not be able to ignore the will of the people. If they thought losing 100M this year was bad, wait until their ticket revenue, TV ratings and gift shop revenue plummet as well. Berlu is a politician, and as someone who thinks of himself as some kind of Italian superhero, he is not a stranger to protests. In fact, he seems to relish the protests as it makes him feel like he is a big deal. The best way to deal with people like that is to ignore him and make him irrelevant. When he goes on camera and nobody is listening, that's when he will finally start learning his lessons.

I hope all American Milan fans will protest at their friendlies this upcoming summer if Milan don't sell.

@slifersd If Milan is not sold the team quality will be bad enough to achieve the same thing. If B&G think that Italian or youth Milan is a path to profits they are the worst businessmen in the history of time. Revenue will fall so much that any salary and transfer fee savings will be rendered meaningless. Guaranteed. It's like saying teams like Torino are making money because they don't pay huge salaries or transfer fees...

That's what I thought would happen the last couple of years, when we talked big about glory and then had negative budgets on transfers. But guess what happened, some fans still bought tickets, went to the games and protested. The on field product is about as disgusting as I have ever seen in my 30 years, and yet they still had fans. What I am suggesting is to basically have an empty San Siro for every game. No more flairs, banners or booing, just nothing.

Municipal elections are on Sunday. Berlusconi's Forza Italia party, which has lost serious ground to Salvini's Lega Nord, is a long shot to win.  Berlusconi is campaigning, Trump style.

Hasan, apparently the translation is a bit wrong on that quote. Apparently, he said "And to think that I used to say the Chinese ate their babies"! This is still a pretty disgusting statement, but if anything, it actually confirms that he will sell and that times are changing.

Berlusconi doing his best to piss off our huge Chinese fanbase. I still think there won't be any sale. All signs point towards that.

Yeah it was hard to make out what he was saying in the video (audio was meh), but when I read the transcript he did say that.

Nonetheless, a bizarre statement by a bizarre man.

Notwithstanding that, now that I have had time to assess all of this, I don't think this will have any impact on the negotiations.

He's a politician, they always do stuff like that.

If the Chinese are serious they shouldn't back out after this joke.
