1- He gained fully adapted last season signings like Bacca and Romagnioli. Also gained developed youngsters like Donnaruma and 80% Niang. Calabria and Locateli was prepaired for him to introduce them into first team football.
Despite fact that in this team isn't invested any money we're slightly stronger than last season because those young players.
2- He don't have Berlusconi messing up in his job with formation ,tactical and selection "advices".
3- No pressure on team because zero expectation - This is first season since we have those crapy players which we entered without crazy fairytales about "Getting CL" and being "competitive". There were no pressure from board, no pressure from media and no pressure from supporters because all was in manner "just don't get relegated and do what you can".Players entered season stress free and without that kind of burden on their shoulders.
4- New owners almost arrived and some of those crappy players are motivated to show more because they know there will be a lot of departures and getting nasty paychek for slightly jogging during games in excange will be no longer tolerated.
I see your points. I do appreciate Mihajlovic very much as well, just to be clear. I feel that he was given the chance to continue (I always wonder why. Maybe his personality clashes with B&G?), he would have done well. If Niang wasn't injured, we may even have a chance to end in top 3 (of course Roma just went on fire for the second half and soon it became impossible); but certainly we could have at least qualified for EL.
I guess I just don't want us to be too harsh on Montella. When he is doing better (one can argue that too), I don't want us to be greedy and say that he "really should have done much better."
