Actually before Allegri became Milan coach, his average win percentage was 32% and his biggest team managed was Cagliari. He only got a 54% win ratio only with Sassulo.. in Serie C.
He became a renowned coach only after winning the Serie A title in his first season with Milan.
So after that, we can argue that Giampaolo has a better resume than Allegri when he arrived at Milan.
In anycase, of all of the managers available and that would even consider coaching Milan(never mind their salary), Giampaolo is the best bet we have right now.
