Lopez hasn't been much better. He is one of the reasons Miha is facing the sack, so why still trust him. Donnarumma looked fine. Didn't look like he was 16. He made a mistake on the freekick, but it's a common mistake that seasoned veterans make too. Ready to anticipate they it before it comes. It wasn't a silly mistake. He should keep his spot.
Bonaventura creates so many dangerous situations so many times. The end product is bad many times though. But I think he had a good second half.
Cerci was good at times today. At times, just a kick and run dribbler....but a much better performance by him compared to previous ones.
Bertolacci instantly gave us something more in the midfield. Something both Poli and Kucka couldn't together.
I'm happy with the win obviously......but I think we should've managed the game better against 10 men and a goal up. There was a span of 15-20 mins after they scored where we completely dominated. Pressed high and with intensity. Played on top of their box and created opportunities. I understand this was against 10 men.....but this is how we should attempt to play all the time. It reminded me of our team 10 yrs ago.
I think this match was similar to the Torino one. Even before the red card we looked better than Sassuolo, and I think the switch to 4-3-3 has made us a bit more solid defensively. The big problem is our lack of precision going forward. Numerous times we had players in good positions, but the pass wasn't good enough. At times our defensive covering in midfield was also lacking, with players being slightly out of position.
At the end of the day it was a deserved win for sure, but obviously not a flawless one.
I have to say, btw, that I am becoming a big fan of Romagnoli. He is doing a great job for his age, and rarely makes a mistake.
Yes. He looks so calm. Plays like a seasoned veteran!

I take some positives from this game despite the red card and winning how we did. We needed the 3 points, and it keeps us not so far from a CL spot, actually quite close.
When Menez, Balotelli come back we might be able to get something moving such as...

IMO, dona must stay in goal. Lopez just gets too many goals in on his side (first post goals should NEVER happen).
He's not bad, his positioning is just terrible most of the time. I think that is why we should just put faith on dona and play him or Abbiati. Yes, replay Abbiati. Statistically, he's better than lopez.
I caught the game late and it wasn't a great performance by any stretch, even with a man advantage we struggled to breakdown Sassuolo. That said, there have been improvements of late. Going a goal up, we did a better job of managing the game than we have this year. The Berardi freekick aside, I don't think Sassuolo actually created anything.
I also thought the pressing around the last 20-25 minutes was actually quite good. We played to win the game and the winning goal was deserved as we showed the desire to score. I saw a lot of negativity on the performance when I checked match updates (on Milannews), so maybe that's why I figured it was better than I expected, but honestly I think there's some valuable things to take from the performance.
Apparently Berlusconi wasn't satisfied with the performance, but if he's hoping for any sort of turnaround, he's going to have to show some patience, we know there are major issues and this was a step in the right direction.
On individuals, I think Donnarruma was fine on the whole. He made a mistake (that a lot of experienced keepers do as well) on the superb Berardi freekick. However, his distribution was quick and precise and he was generally very composed. He wasn't tested much on the whole, but there were positives in his debut.
I think the CBs were both pretty good. Romagnoli looked very good, while Alex stuttered slightly at times, but looks a reliable partner. I would say continue with these two as starters, but Alex needs to be consistent. Abate and Antonelli were ok, Abate wasn't great, while Antonelli looked much better towards the end.
The midfield was mediocre at best. Poli did what I expect him to do, which was run and provide energy, but little else. Montolivo needs to be quicker distributing the ball and getting play moving, though he was our best midfielder and pressed Magnanelli pretty well. Kucka was dreadful, far too many mistakes and his worst game in a Milan shirt by some distance imo. On the positive, they were more compact so never looked too stretched. Bertolacci is starting to show signs of the player from Genoa of late, so his return on Wednesday could be a big boost.
In attack, I liked Bacca, I though his movement between the lines and in behind the defence was excellent. However, I wasn't really satisfied with either Bonaventura or Cerci. Both hug the touchline far too much, leaving no room for the overlap from our fullbacks (both of which were more inclined to attack). Cerci's looking better than he has since leaving Torino, but is still very hit and miss and predictable, rarely producing the end product. Bonaventura until the end was moving all wrong. He'd either stay out wide in an ineffective position, or when he moved in, it would be in areas where he wasn't a threat (usually quite deep in midfield). Him staying wide might have been effective if Bertolacci started, who runs in between the lines and pushes up better, but with Poli that rarely happens. If he moved in more often earlier, Antonelli could have overlapped better, something we saw towards the end. Having these wide players moving more centrally also benefits the threat of having them use their stronger foot to take shots at goal, the whole point of using inverted wingers.
Mihajlovic can take positives from this match, but there are problems to resolve. I think we're in a solid position to build from to face Chievo.
