Summer Mercato 2016
sounds good nefremo.

suppose we'll find out in the next few days if the sale has gone through... Either way, today's appointment of Montella shows that negotiations are as good as done. We'll either have new owners or we're stuck with the stooges.

I desperately hope we've sold to the chinese. We need the cash to strengthen the team. More importantly we need someone in with a good business sense. Someone who sees the value in having your own stadium, expanding support to generate revenue. It's the poor running of the club that has us in this position and now we need someone who can bring us forward commercially. Success on the field will eventually come but the reason why Real, Barca, and half the English clubs always come good is because they make so much, they don't care how much they spend. It's a big ask, but we can get there
Absolutely agree. We need a sustainable business model. No matter how much money an individual or a group has, sooner or later they simply won't be able to sustain multimillion business that's in the red every year. It may take 5, it may take 10 years. But sooner or later, it will all crumble. This is why projects like a stadium are so important like you said.
im still not excited that we will spend 50m on lukaku if his price is 20m or below that im all for him, but 50, that money can easily spend somewhere else, like oscar from chelsea or veratti of psg or even we can buy messi or c.ronaldo for 100m, that would be money well spent. but lukaku for 50m that is bad business imo. look at chile they got a squad that just won the copa, maybe we can get someone from that squad. or even iceland.

If we have 150mil to spend and we spend 50 of it on a striker, fine. But all the reports for weeks are now saying its 100, and we can only go from that. It might be right, it might be wrong...but that's what we have. We can't go on and justify ridiculous prices for players we don't really need in positions we don't really need...just by saying that we MAY actually have 150 to spend.

I don't know...I see what you are saying. I just think that it's the wrong approach. Like I said, if they want to make a Big Bang in the market and "not take a girl to McDonald's for a first date", than make a Big Bang in the market and invest in the midfield/wings....not a striker.

For example, if I had 100mil to spend on this squad, I would allocate the budget in the following way:
#1) 75mil for either 2 midfielders (attacking midfield goes in here too); or if we use wingers, than this 75 can possibly go to 1 high quality mid and 1 quality winger.
#2) 25mil for a CB to partner Romagnoli

That's it. 3 signings. Make them high quality. No strikers. We already bought Lapadula, still have Bacca and Adriano here. IF we sell one, than one can come in to fill that void. But no need at this point.

I can't argue with the quality of your plan there. If I was in charge of Milan, that's what I would've done too. Hell, I already got my plan drawn up, with Kovacic, Witsel, and Mustafi as the featured signings. Unfortunately, we don't run the show there, lol.

We can certainly argue about the logical approach in mercato, but most likely, management will go with the more glamorous signings to appease the illogical fans (and most fans are illogical). You know, the same fans who filled the streets of Milan when Berlu signed Ronaldinho, despite the team had no place for him and he was on the downside of his career. We all like to think being an owner is all about making the right business decisions. But in actuality, popularity is also an important part of what they do. No owner wants to be cursed out loud when they are pouring in millions to a team. This is especially true since so many Milan fans have turned sour on the Milan management over the years and needs to be convinced that something is different about the new regime. Your plan will make the reasonable fans happy, but the majority of the fans that are illogical will always clamor for the big names and that could very well be the driving force behind our mercato plan.

Part of the reason I want Lukaku, or at least don't mind him, is that I sincerely doubt Bacca, Niang, Menez or Adriano is going to stay. In case they do all leave, I don't want to see Lapadula as the featured striker. Our offense wasn't great last year, but making Lapadula the main striker is only going to make it worse. Again, I wouldn't personally put him as my number one target in the mercato, I just think him or someone like him being target No 1 is the most likely outcome.
Apparently, according to today's Gazzetta, Montella has a list of names he's interested in:

The "dream" signing is Pjaca. Seeing as his agent is literally pushing him to us, I say we should take him. Opportunities like that don't come easy.

Montella is also apparently keen on Soriano and Ljajic having worked with them at Sampdoria and Fiorentina. Not to say I think he's the answer, but I find the Soriano link interesting. We've had two ex-Sampdoria coaches in the space of two summers now, both keen on bringing Soriano with them. Also, he played a key role in Zenga's side too.

The other name is Pavoletti if Bacca leaves.
so Pavoletti, Ljajic, Soriano and Pjaca??
I must say I was hoping for something more, even if we sign all of them Juventus would still be miles ahead of us.
It really looks like a low cost mercato despite the rumours of the approval to the sale by Berlu ...
It's weird.

At the same time, having some players like them makes sense : you improve the squad, but they're not stars, so they should be hard-working on the pitch. Actually, it looks like the lazy guys are going to leave and we replace them by hard-working players with a positive attitude on the pitch. Not bad.

But still weird if we have money.
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !
Pjaca, Ljajic and Pavoletti if Bacca leaves not a good mercato, won't be enough for top 3.we can only fight for a EL place with current midfield and defence.

l was hoping for scudetto, however it looks like it will be another season with 6th-10th.

These investors must be mad if they let Galliani touch their money. It's business & football suicide.
Those players that we are linked with today will just change our team, not make it better. So what's the point? I can't believe the Chinese are investing so much money in the club and have no desire to make us better?!? This doesn't make sense to me. Nothing makes sense any more...
