Not sure if Isco is realistic even now. A lot of Premiership teams were or are linked to him, from what I understand Arsenal probably favourites to get him if he's available. I also don't see him costing less than 35m at this point, and if rumours are to be believed, right now our budget is 15m (potentially 45m if Bacca is sold).
I'm also hoping there's no truth to Zaza rumours, that seems like a bad move waiting to happen. That said, it looks more realistic that the money from the Bacca sale wouldn't be ussed on Zaza and would instead be used for Cuadrado, who I'm generally ok with, even if not the biggest fan.
Anyway, assuming our budget is 15m right now and we can sell Bacca, I don't really have much hesitation on what I'd be aiming for this summer. The Bacca money for me would go to securing Berardi, I'm a big fan of the guy and think within the next year or two at the latest he will secure a move to one of the big hitters. I'd like to get him now if possible and am not convinced in Suso or Honda on the right as of now.
The other money would be used to secure Paredes and Lucas Lima. Not really fussed with how it's done, whether they are brought outright (if we can get funds in time), a loan with obligation or in instalments, doesn't really matter to me, but both are needed for different roles in midfield. We have competition for both, Paredes being linked to Juve and Lucas Lima with Chelsea and Real, but I think our trump card now is what we can offer them. Firstly, they are pretty much guaranteed first team football as opposed to the other clubs and now we can assure them that with the investment (which we now know the amount that is coming and due), we can offer an ambitious project. I'd outright tell them that the aim is within 2 years we aim to be at least as competitive as Juve, with them at the heart of our project. I don't think that's unrealistic if we're smart.
Also, I hope the rumours about DES are nothing but that, he should NOT be sold under any circumstance imo. That would leave a team that until January looks like this:
-----------------------------------Donnarumma----------------------------------------
DES/Abate--------Gomez/Paletta---------Romagnoli--------------Antonelli/DES
-------------------------------------Montolivo------------------------------------------
---------------Lucas Lima----------------------------Paredes--------------------------
--Berardi---------------------------------------------------------------Bonaventura--
--------------------------------Lapadula/Niang-----------------------------------------
In January, the rumour is we'll finally get the real spending power we hope for from this sale. I'm not sure if that's the case, but I'd like investments for the obvious weaknesses here. Firstly, I'd be looking at the CB. Maybe Gomez is a revelation, but if not I'd want a top CB to come in. If Montolivo is proving to be too much of a liabiility, I'd want a top mezzala in his place (with Paredes moving into his natural regista role), although if he's adequate I might be prepared to wait until the summer (when more options are likely available). The forward line would also be under scrutiny, as both Lapadula and Niang offer no guarantees (and no, Zaza still doesn't remain the answer!)
