Week#3: Napoli - Milan
#1
I am just surprised that there isn't a thread on this rather important match yet. Smile

To me, it could be a potential champion match and I am really not happy with this schedule that we have to play so many intense games so early. We should've had teams like Novara or Atalanta as our appetizer and get warmed up slowly. This may hurt our form later in the season, but hopefully Allegri will manage that well for the team.

I watched Napoli's first game against Cesena last weekend. Napoli even benched Hamsik for the mid-week CL game but they still looked very sharp. I think it is not an overstatement to say that this upcoming game at Napoli should not be taken any lightly.

I don't know Napoli fans hate us more or Inter Merda fans hate us more, but I have watched Serie A long enough to know that Napoli is absolutely a hate-able team for any Milan fan. The team, the management, the fans, all dirtbags. Ask any "old" Italian football fan, and they will agree. So many times they ambushed us, sometimes with dirty hands. Angry

Too bad Ibrahimovic is out, but we have Pato. And I don't know if Taiwo can make it. It would be imperative that we use fast fullbacks that could push forward and track back quickly enough to defend. I don't think that we can trust Zambrotta or Antonini.

Good news is that they will have one fewer day's rest than we.

Forza Milan!

Good post xudong.

This is one of those games where our credentials will be severely tested...Napoli are no side to take lightly, and will push hard for the Scudetto this term.

When is Robinho expected to return? Pato and Cassano doesnt seem to be clicking yet....partially IMO becuz Cassano doesnt work very hard when we lose posession.

I'm also concerned about our wingbacks....but nothing new there.

A tough match, and one we should aim to win, as they already are 2 points ahead of us....(early days etc etc....but still).

Thanks, Warro. I wish I knew when our injured players can be back at disposal. I believe that the situation is made even worse since the fourth round will be played mid-week, so we would expect to play too many games again in too short a period. (I need to check the schedule to confirm), and that certainly is a terrible news for the team.

Speaking of Pato-Cassano, they don't click. Unfortunately, I think the problem is Pato. He just doesn't click with anyone. Kaka worked fantastically with him. Sad Out of our current players, Robinho perhaps is the closest one. Both Ibrahimovic and Cassano are too static (read: lazy) which creates another dimension of problem.

Anyway, I am no Allegri, but I am sure that our coach will do a fine job tackling the problems; also, after the encouraging result against Barcelona, our players should be very motivated (albeit physically tired) for this upcoming "big" game

I think Pato and Ibra not clicking is somewhat a myth if I'm honest, as they combined for a number of goals last season (I don't have the stats unfortunately). Cassano on the other hand is a great individual talent, but even with Ibra last Friday there wasn't quite the team play.

This is a tough match, one we can't take lightly.

This will be a tough match and will be interesting to see how Napoli plays after their game with City.

Surprisingly, we have a pretty good record against Napoli in the last three seasons. Last year we won away (2-1) and home (3-0) with the latest game they didn't even make a single shot on target.

That said, things could change rapidly in football. Three of our four scorers in those two games (Ibra, Robinho, Boateng) might be absent from this game.

And Oddo the architect is gone Sagrin

If we play with the concentration like in Barca match, we'll win for sure. Forza Milan!!!

Tough match really, but we have to win. If Ibra, Boa and Robinho are still injured, then IMO we should play with a Christmas Tree formation, with Aquilani and Urby behind Pato. Then Cassano can start from the bench. He is still too lazy, very low work rate.
