Anyhow, as it's been said before.....this game won't be about the formation at all. It will be about the right attitude and intensity. We have to start playing with confidence and intensity.

It could be about formation if Roma's wingers burn our three-man defense Icon_lol2

4-3-3 is just as problematic for 3-5-2 as a 3-5-2 is a problematic for a 4-3-3. You can easily make the same argument about Roma's wingers and say that they will be force to go really deep in order to defend our own wingbacks because their backline will have 2 strikers to deal with...therefore they won't be in a position to burn our three-man defense. It's an argument that goes around in circles.

The point being is.....if we don't show up with the right grit and attitude from the first minute, we will have a hard time in this game no matter what formation we are using. The team that shows up with the right physicality, intensity, attitude, confidence...is the team that's going to put the other's formation under pressure. If the intensity and attitude is matched by both sides, then maybe it'll come down to whoever interprets the spaces better and therefore formations...or maybe even whose individuals simply have a better day on the field.

But since we've been struggling with our approach to games and especially the intensity with which we approach our games.....I think we need to worry about that first and foremost. Then, and only then, should we start questioning anything else.

It definitely is a must win. We are playing at home and the stadium will probably be packed. We have played 2 games against decent opponents and have lost them both. We look like crap in our play and the enthusiasm of the crowd is quickly disappearing while the pressure on the squad keeps stacking up. A loss here and the season might be "over" before it's actually started. It won't be easy (psychologically) to get back from a loss. We will already be 6 points away from 4th spot with Inter coming up (assuming Roma also wins their game in hand vs Samp) The squad will also lose confidence in their coach.

So yes, you are right, this is a must win game. As Shevcheko said a couple of days ago....this game, although early on and as unusual as it is to say this at this stage of the season, has the potential be the crossroad of this campaign.

Montella's also never had such a team at his disposal either.
If we lose this one, it will be all on him and his tactics.
