Roma vs. Milan 2/25/18
#91
What seems obvious since Gattuso is our coach is that the players now seem to understand what it is to wear the Milan shirt and really give it all. And like there's always been talent in our roster, it starts to be obvious too that the main problem was Montella, and also maybe the fact that we lost the Milan soul, what Gattuso brought with him.

Will Gattuso be the first legend not to be destroyed by his beloved club as a coach ?

We have done the best start in the return legs schedule since 2004.
We beat 3 direct competitors (2 clean sheets).
We are unbeaten in 2018.
We beat Roma at Olimpico for the first time since 2011.

If Gattuso continues this path ...
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !

Not to be the pessimist, but we need to keep our feet on the ground and continue taking it one game at a time. We can hope for 4th (or even 3rd), but right now there's a long way to go as it's one thing if we were just chasing 1 team, but with 3 ahead of us with a significant margin the likelihood is still low. I also don't rule out Samp proving to be a problem, they're in pretty decent form and seemed to have recovered from the difficulties they had in December.

That said, savour the victory, enjoy our positive moment and let's hope we continue. A few more positive stats in recent games:

- The last time we started a year this well was back in 2004
- This was the fifth consecutive clean sheet in a row (and imo the best defensive performance we've probably put in this season)
- Since the turn of the year, Cutrone has scored 5 goals in 8 appearances and has 1 assist

I think Rino has done a good job of this. He keeps stressing the point that we've done nothing yet and there is still a long way to go. Last week after the win, he even said that "it's easy to coach this team now, bit trouble is just around the corner" or something within those lines. I believe he keeps the team on the edge. Never letting them believe that he is satisfied and always demanding perfection. This is how it should be.

He's done a phenomenal job psychologically and physically with this team. But also, as you said, he's proven time and time again that he is actually really good tactically.

“Gattuso is making us work harder, especially on tactics. With Montella we did very little work in training, but it’s different with Gattuso and you can see the results on the pitch,” - Kessie.
Pure truth.
