Milan vs. Olympiakos 10/4/18

Can't say you are wrong, but what are we basing that on? We've barely seen him in that position.

Anyway, I actually agree with you on the 4231...and naturally, a 433 needs someone from the midfield to go between the lines when in possession anyway. Even more so with those players on the field as we would basically have 2 wingers in Samu and Laxalt who will naturally stay wide and not go centrally between the lines at all. That's Hakan's natural movement and position (behind the striker/s) anyway so it works out. So even if we slide to a 433 defensively, there shouldn't be a problem to transform that into a 4231 when in possession.

I read that Hakan has been tried in that position in praseason and it didnt work out.

In my opinion, the 3 players in the midfield are so vital since they determine our play both defensively and offensively. We need a stabilized midfield and to achieve it the players need to be disciplined. The players there need to move forwards and backwords in the whole 90 minutes especially LCM and RCM.

I don't think Hakan is able to do such a job. We would have a hole on the left side of the midfield if we put Hakan there. I love when Hakan tracks back and in many occasions he succeeds to steal the ball or to make tackels but they all are all not routine tasks, happen a couple of times in a game.

I cant understand why Gattuso hasn't tried other formation as an alternative. He could do it in Europa League except the first match where all starters were subs except Higuain. Gattuso might want to have bench players that are accustomed with 433. If we play combination of starters and subs like you proposed, I dont think we cant try 4231.

Lets secure some points first (to boost confindece) and try out diff formation later on. I hope to see regulars with few changes instead such as Samu for Suso, Bakayoko/Mauri for Kessie, and Reina for Donna

Damn. I must have been traumatized by Kalinic. When I saw the big #7, I cringed a little.
