Summer 2019 friendlies
Didnt see it all but what I saw was very in line with that starting lineup, basically last year except new coach is not bringing miracles, (and the new ones have barely played as a team)

Not an excuse. I'm just trying to think of why we have looked sloppy. We didn't even look this sloppy and slow ln the ball during the USA tour where we barely had any physical work done. So it just makes no sense.
Ultimately I agree. We are 1 week away from the start og the season. Whetger it's phtsical work, line up, tactical difficulty, etc, etc. A solution needs to be found because this just simply wasn't good enough.

Many disaplointments today. But I'll already be on Giampaolo's ass if we see the same starting midfield next weekend. I don't care if Bennacer has only trained with the team for 10 days at that point. He's surely better then Biglia/Borini/Hakan.

Also, a solution to the SS role needs to be found very quickly. As it stands, we simply don't have a SS. Leao might be one, but do we put all our eggs in that basket? Samu is not a SS. We are making him play there, but it's not going to work out. He needs to be sold.

A permanent solution to the AMC spot needs to be found too. I can just see Suso fucking us badly this season. This game was a preview of what's to come. This is how this guy plays for 6-7 months every season. I don't see why that'll change. He couldn't even keep his form over 6 weeks this summer. He slowly started deteriorating as the summer went on ending with this game where he was horrible.

Looks like a long season ahead of us

Not to say tonight's result was in any way acceptable, but Cesena played an incredibly physical game with the whole team defending deep, kicking us down whenever they got the chance, pulling shirts to stop attacks and generally running like crazy. They put 100% effort into it, we were probably at 50%, and you could tell our players were also trying to avoid turning the match into a physical battle and potentially getting injured ahead of Udinese (some of those fouls we suffered had me shouting at the TV). Still, we absolutely have to play better next weekend. A performance like the one we saw tonight just won't do.

Agree.

I think for our part, we have to move the ball quicker. It was just too slow. Technically qe were sloppy on the ball. Took us way too many touches to get the ball under control. The passes were not crisp. There was no combinations like we saw in previous games this summer. I think we definitely took a step backwards. But I am hopeful, especially with some of the new players coming in. As I said, we desperately need a SS as well. And if Suso can't step it up, then we would need to see Bonaventura/Paqueta there or buy a playmaker.

Time is running out, but I think Bennacer will bring a lot to this midfield. Theo is also gling to bring some pace and attacking threat on the left.

Quote:Giampaolo: 'No Milan short-cuts'

Marco Giampaolo is not concerned after Milan’s 0-0 draw with Serie C side Cesena. “I always said it’d take time, I am not looking for short-cuts.”

The Rossoneri had practically the same line-up as last season in their final friendly of the summer.

“Clearly we can’t be very sharp right now, but we took that into account,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The game will give us indications to understand how we can improve and work better. We are particularly dependent on narrow margins that keep the balance and those are important above all for those who haven’t had many training sessions.

“After all, I had one session with Rafael Leao, none with Ismael Bennacer, Leo Duarte had three. There are players who have quality, but don’t know what’s happening in the collective thought process because they arrived late, like Lucas Paqueta and Franck Kessie.

“When I said it’d take time, I meant it, because I knew it would be like this and I am not looking for short-cuts. If we want to play positive football in the opposition half, then we need to maintain it with a delicate balance.

“It’s just a matter of time and working together, as so far I’ve only done that with a handful of players.”

Giampaolo also had an intriguing explanation for Krzysztof Piatek’s pre-season struggles.

So, it needs time.  Angel
