AC Milan have reportedly made Andriy Shevchenko and assistant Mauro Tassotti their first choices to replace Marco Giampaolo should he be dismissed.

Milan suffered yet another damaging blow at San Siro on Sunday night as they were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina.

Pressure is beginning to build on Giampaolo after a dreadful start to the season in which the Rossoneri have lost four of their opening six games for the first time since 1938-39.

It was a hostile atmosphere all evening, and there were protests from the Curva Sud towards the end of the game, with speculation mounting that Giampaolo could be sacked.

Vito Angele confirmed to us that the former Sampdoria man’s position is under threat, with three possible temporary solutions being considered

Monday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that there are five possible names being considered as potential replacements.

Meanwhile, TMW linked Andriy Shevchenko with the job after the game, and they have provided an update by reporting that the former striker is in fact Milan’s first choice.

Currently the manager of the Ukrainian national team, Shevchenko – with his assistant Tassotti – has won 16 out of 29 games, losing only five and outscoring opponents 43 to 23 in that spell.

The signs early in Shevchenko’s coaching career are good, and the report adds that he was an idea for Genoa over the summer before they decided to stick with Andreazzoli.

Saturday’s game – ironically against Genoa – could be decisive for Giampaolo. Another defeat, and Paolo Maldini will pick up the phone to ring two of his old friends.

I would be shocked if Shevchenko rumor has any credibility. Isn't Ukraine leading the group in the Euro 2020 qualifier? There is no reason to leave that job for this.

Massimiliano Mirabelli:

✓ Giampaolo? He's one of the best coaches, but I think the problem is when you get a coach you have to know the way he wants and we all know he's always playing with a 4-3-1-2 plan.

✓ Management did not enter the market in line with what the coach wants, this team was built with 4-3-3 and not 4-3-1-2, can not be forced Giampaolo to play with the plan 4-3-3, it is a great coach but you Put it in good condition.

✓ Giampaolo is not a bad coach, Sari initially found himself with Napoli in the same position or less, obviously Giampaolo failed, but in my opinion, a team was built not in line with his plan to play.

✓ Suso? He is one of the best players. He has performed well in the role of the playmaker as a stranger, but the players must be put in the right place, because Soso can never be a playmaker.

✓ If Milan wants to return to the competition again they should stop living in the past, and think only about the present, without thinking that they should attend coaches or administrators just because they played in Milan only

That one like discredits everything he's ever said. He clearly does not understand football.

the owners of Elliott patience is running out, the Genoa encounter is the last resort of Giampaolo and if the coach is sacked, Rudy Garcia will be the substitute as he is a close friend of Masara
