And all it takes is one team to bend the rules for the whole thing to fall apart. Take the Donna situation, for example. Nobody wants to deal with his demands and his agent, except Juve, who has no problem signing him for free and give a huge contract and sign on fee to his agent. As such, they will get a very good player for free, and gain a competitive advantage because of it. Other teams in the league will see that, and go "well, shit, I guess we have to compete with Juve by playing their game too". Once that happens, the rules are broken because everyone would violate it. Salary cap is a great idea, but really isnt feasible unless there is an official agreement like the NBA.
No way Donna is better then Sczescny (or however it is spelled). He may become better but at most is on par with him and untested in big games with lots of eyes (cL). With COVID limiting incomes, that move doesn’t make a ton of sense to me.
Salary cap can work as Bayern and Dortmund do pretty well with it. As you grow the brand the caps increase. Of course players may leave for money’s sake, but if your system is successful and you can invest in the youth levels and recruiting (Atalanta) you can make it work. With the CL rules, there really is no other way. You can’t just splash the money unless it is income.

I guess for having an 'Atalanta' like system beside having a good recruitment we also need a coach like Gasperini who personally work with the players and improve his work performance by hook and crook( ) and make him a system player like Hateboer, Zapata, Caldara. It won't work with coaches like Pioli(who doesn't have any tactics rather than Theo and Inshallah ) and Gattuso.
Forza Diavolo ale!!!
Our first signing should be a new coach. Pioli completely lost the squad, and losing an advantage like he did is worse than not having it. His plan fell apart and I really see no system anymore. We need a real proven coach before anyone else IMO
I don't think he lost the squad. I see the team still fighting and following their coach and the instructions. We are at a slump. It happens to all teams during the course of a season. Inter had their in the beginning. We are going through ours at the worst possible time.
Having said that....where Pioli has failed, imo...is in finding solutions to things that no longer work as well as they used to. He insists on the same lineup, same formation, same tactical set up. He's shown ZERO ability (or maybe willingness is the right word) to make adjustments...whether it's in personnel or formation.
Despite Pioli having our best start/run in idk how many decades, we cannot forget there were other important factors that played a major role too, a) Zlatan and b) no fans. Pioli does deserve credit for the good he's done, however one must look at his career and see that he's had similar problems at every club he was at. He has started well mostly everywhere but then the trademark decline of his comes along. He hasn't been able to sustain good form in his teams for long.
I personally value Ibra's impact on the team, but his presence on the pitch at this age is really hurting the team. I'm not very happy with his performances generally and Mandzukic has been a shambolic flop so far - I don't know why they expected better actually. The team needs a coach who not only can get the best out of the players but also can teach the players how to move and how to play.
I really wanted Sarri here after Pioli. I hope we don't let him go to Roma. I still think he's the best Italian coach in the game at the moment, inclusive of Allegri, Spalletti, Conte, Ancelotti and Spalletti. He dealt with very unlucky circumstances at both Juventus and Chelsea and still managed to do quite well given how much limitations were imposed on his coaching. I really hope that our sporting directors are keeping a communication channel with him because if we're not, that would be being unprepared. His style of football suits Milan so well and he made Napoli a title contender playing some of the most beautiful football in Europe.
So many of our players would grow under him but he is quite stubborn. He will use his 433 and starting 11 religiously and having Ibrahimovic in the squad will offer limitations to his system just as Cristiano offered limitations to his Juve. He contractually had to play Cristiano every game and he absolutely did not want him, he preferred Dybala but he couldn't find any balance fielding both at the same time so he had to sacrifice Dybala from the starting 11 for Cristiano. I imagine Zlatan and Sarri would bust heads but if Zlatan played more of a secondary role and not as a starter next year, then Sarri would be great. I just don't know how will he convert Kessie/Bennacer to play as box to box midfielders.
We desperately need new #7, #9, #10s. Hakan really should not be more than a Krunic type of player for us, he's really decent at best with an odd 5-8 games per season where he's on good form. Castillejo should have never been a Milan player. We still don't have a reliable CF. Ibra's here only part-time while Mandzukic is a retired player.
I really hope we sign Dybala if he's available, perhaps a swap deal with Romagnoli. He'd be great for us, a lot better than Belotti who is the same age. Tomori's a must, even with the last two games. He's a young English CB that's fast and physical, everything else he can learn with experience. He's got more potential than almost all of the English CBs out there and can easily be worth more than Maguire or close to it when he starts playing for England. He's a youth World Cup and youth CL winner by the way. He's going to be sold for 45m at the bare minimum to any English club. It's an easy and certain investment.
You guys think Tomori will be renewed? He is not as polished as he presented the first few games. Still very raw and undressed the last two matches. I like him but asking price seems a little too steep especially with 20yo Gabbia waiting in the wings.

Conti, Caldara and Laxalt will all return to Milan at the end of the season after their loan period ends.
Just lock the door and pretend no one's at home when they arrive...
Avaiting for arrival of exorcist into our boardroom.

Gabbia isn't special at all. Just as unspecial as Romangoli and Rodrigo Ely. There's nothing about him that makes him a better CB than others, nothing at all.
Tomori has physicality and speed that very few defenders have. His problems are tactical/positioning, these are things that can be taught with a good coach. These are mistakes you'd expect from young defenders... at least he can improve upon his weakness.. but players like Romagnoli cannot improve how slow he is. Him versus Lukaku will forever be a nightmare no matter how much experience he gets..that's what makes him expendable to me. Not to mention his cheeky and sly move to change agent to Raiola thinking Mino's going to get him a raise like what he's doing with his other players. The difference between Alessio and his other players are that they are WC and he can bargain for better deals... but playing as bad as Romagnoli has it makes it very easy to tell him good bye as long as a good offer comes in for him. Unfortunately leaving him on his last year of the contract, at best we can ask for 25-30m for him. There was a time where Barca or Juve would've paid 40m+ for him, shame that train has gone by now. Ideally we'd sell Alessio and invest that money into Tomori, who'd prolly fetch us 50m in 2-3 years that can be further used to strengthen the squad.
Even Koulibaly had issues with positioning earlier in his career but what made Sarri and others gamble on him was his rare physical characteristics. Under Sarri he developed tactically tremendously and at a time was the best player in Serie A (only 2-3 years ago) worth 80m+. I don't see why Fikayo can't go for 50m, especially as he's English, making him attractive to the EPL clubs when he plays for England NT. Tomori's price is steep, but it's only those investments that will reap greater rewards in the future.
