Week 1 Bologna - Milan August 21 2023 20:45CET
#1
A Monday game to start the 2023-2024 season.

4-3-3 is predicted with Pulisic, Giroud and Leao up front. If Krunic is here he could play with Reijnders and RLC in front of Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori and Theo with Maignan. Bennacer out until at least December. Musah is carrying a one game suspension, red last season's week 38.

Cant wait for this. Bologna under Motta is a tough nut to crack. But they have lost the important Schouten to PSV, Arnautovic has gone to Inter, and Dominguez is probably on the move so its a less good Bologna side.

Our first 10 matches is extremely hard so its really important to start with a win.

I predict a dull 1-0 win.

I just want a win, dull or not. Big Grin

After an interesting summer, especially how it started (Ibrahimovic, Maldini, Berlusconi, Tonali), there is way too much uncertainty. This beginning of season will be crucial for the team psychologically.

it will be a draw, no way our team has gel with so much new players coming in

We only have 3 new players in the (expected) starting line-up: RLC, Reijnders, and Pulisic.
All played fully in the preseason, synced with the team, especially Pulisic is an upgrade at RW.

So a draw is not an unlikely result, but new players do not affect much, IMO.

Hoping for a win but I'm definitely worried we will start slowly

Unfortunately two of them play in the most important part of the formation, the midfield. Both have to play with the existent players, Krunic & Pobega and we know they are not in the same level of Tonali or Bennacer. Hopefully both wings left and right could do their job well and the defense are not shaky.

I expect us struggle to win this game but if the team play compact we could win this game confidently, our attack with new offensive players look scary (on paper).
