Don't do this to yourself.
We're not catching Inter. But yes, as fans we have to believe until the math proves that we can't.
On Tomori, I think he was good. But he makes mistakes, still. For example, in the first half, he left his mark to try and step up to win the ball. It was a crazy decision...because he didn't, and it resulted in a Fiorentina 1v1 with Mike, who saved our ass. Tomori did something similar in the 2nd half, again. Got lucky because Fiorentina played the wrong ball and a bit too long of a pass, which Tomori was lucky enough to get back and shield it out (this was the moment he got the yellow card by the way for kicking the ball away).
These are mistakes that all CBs can make. Nesta and Maldini made them for example. But made them once every 10 games. Tomori did twice in one game. My point here isn't to bash Tomori. He is far and away the best CB we have and I wouldn't trade him away for anything. But he has to stop having these mental lapses in almost every game. He is of the age now that he needs to play with a bit more certainty. The good thing is that he has the tools physically and tactically he's improved SO much since coming to Milan. But there are still these moments of pure MADNESS, like the 2 today. I expect them from Thiaw. Not from Tomori.
The game itself was crazy though. A fun watch. I'm glad we won.
But it's just wild how we can NOT soak up pressure without giving away (stupid) crazy chances to opponents. This entire season, I only remember the PSG game at home where we purposely soaked up pressure and made it difficult for them. I don't want us to be Allegri's Juventus and defend 30 meters from goal for 80 minutes. What I'm talking about is 10-15 minutes when the other team pushes a ton of players up and goes wild trying to equalize. Like today. There were a sketchy 15-20 minutes where clearly Fiorentina was pushing up to score the 2nd....and instead of adjusting to that and tightening our lines, making it difficult for them.....we kept on pushing players up ourselves like crazy. And it resulted in a wild 15 minute period where we were lucky not to concede.
Good 3 points though. I saw only us and Inter have beaten Fiorentina away this year.
