I think defense goes beyond just a CDM which I’m not sure would be helpful in this system. In man coverage if you are beaten that throws off the whole scheme. When Tomori anticipates a tackle and misses, his man is uncovered. When Reijnders doesn’t follow his man, the system fails. This system is too taxing with a Leao and Giroud. Teams are spreading us wide then sending a runner in the middle where the space is. It is very difficult to cover that.
