Player of season: Reijnders
*This was the easiest decision one could make when judging this season. Big Grin Perhaps Pulisic could gave a bit of competition, but in the end, you simply can't look away from what Reijnders has done this season. Truly, an unreal performance from midfield.

Flop: Leao
*Lots of players disappointed this season. But it's very hard for me to look away from Leao. He is THE superstar in this team. There's nobody else. We can talk about Mike, and Theo, and you name it....but in the end, Leao is the guy that's supposed to carry the team. Hes the highest paid player in the squad, he is the most known player in the squad. There is an expectation that comes with that. And he simply failed. He scored 3 goals in 10 CL games. The teams he scored against? Slovan Bratislava, Red Star and Girona. That's disappointment...to say the least. Shit the bed against Liverpool and Leverkusen...but moreso than that, he shit the bed when we most needed him, against Dinamo and Feyenoord. If you look at Serie A, the numbers look "respectable" at 9g/10a...but it's not the whole picture. He didn't score A SINGLE goal at the San Siro. Let me repeat that.....Rafael Leao did NOT score a single goal at the San Siro in Serie A. We finished 8th.....and he only scored ONE goal against clubs above us in the table (vs Lazio). Even in the Coppa....he failed to deliver when most needed....in the final. He was atrocious and not dangerous....similar to other do or die games, like those vs Dinamo and Feyenoord.
I had high expectations for him this year. I was expecting at least 15 goals in Serie A, but was more shooting for 20. So much hype, but so little substance. In the end, he is not THE problem in this team. But I think these expectations that we had of Leao becoming a world class top leading winger that terrorizes teams is over. He's simply a good player. Nothing more, nothing less. So he's "the flop of the season for me" simply based on expectations. It's not like he was worse than Emerson Royal or Chukwueze or Morata for example. But the fact is, the grading scale of different for Leao and for those other players. And based on that scale.....he flopped BIG time.

Hey, that's my answer  Icon_lol2

I would also choose Reijnders and Theo respectively. Leao at least had some brilliant moments but I can't think of more than one good game for Theo this season. Plus, he ruined our CL hope. Leao may receive a low score but Theo has a negative point.

Player of season:
Tijjani Reijnders. Voted best midfielder in Serie A. Christian Pulisic deserves credit too, but not quite at Reijnders' level this season.

Flop (per expectations):
A tie between Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao. While Theo has been consistently underperforming Leao has had his few moments, but far from enough from him too.

Flop overall:
Santiago Gimenez. A €32m striker who ends up as Jovic' and Abraham's backup says it all. I know it's probably a bit harsh and hopefully he can show a lot more in the future. In his defence I will say that it has not been the easiest of environments to join midseason.

I agree with your answer.  Reijnders really shined this season, Pulisic and him really saved us from being even lower standings.

Leao abd Theo  1ban

Gimenez I need to give another season with new coach to agree with you.
